Harry J. Collard, a beloved father, grandfather, dedicated entrepreneur, and passionate outdoorsman, passed away on February 16, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born on December 4, 1937, in Fountain Green, Utah, and grew up on a dairy farm in Daniels, Utah, where he developed his strong work ethic and love for nature.
Harry graduated from Wasatch High School in 1955 and went on to serve his country proudly in the US National Guard for four years. He was a man of many talents and interests, but his true passion lay in entrepreneurship. He founded his construction business, HAJCO, which thrived for 25 years, leaving behind a profound mark of his craftsmanship across the western United States.
In 1960, Harry married his first wife, Marion Jones, with whom he had three beautiful children: Keith, Connie, and Brent. Later in life, he found love again and married Barbara Bissell Pollock on August 6, 1987. They enjoyed over 36 years of marriage filled with adventure and companionship.
A true adventurer at heart, Harry had a zest for life and a love for the great outdoors. He was an avid snowmobiler and served as the president of the Utah Snowmobile Association and a proud member of the International Snowmobile Association. Harry was instrumental in trail access and conservation efforts in Utah. You could always find him, Barbara, and their friends heading up the mountain on freshly fallen snow days, to feel pristine powder and see how high they could jump their machines. His enthusiasm for snowmobiling brought him immense joy and created cherished memories with loved ones.
One of Harry's greatest joys was spending time with his family and friends, especially at Lake Powell, where he and his brother refurbished a houseboat for unforgettable adventures. Whether sunbathing, water skiing, or sharing stories on top of the quiet water underneath the stars, Harry's presence brought joy to those around him.
In addition to his outdoor pursuits, one of Harry’s favorite hobbies was woodworking. Many family members have received pieces that he restored. He would love to see something and go into his workshop to create from scratch himself. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in every piece he crafted, leaving an enduring impression that will be cherished by all.
Harry is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his three children, Keith (Cathy), Connie, and Brent, as well as his stepchildren, Greg (Cathy) and Scott (Francine). He leaves behind a profound impact of love and dedication, cherished by his 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Junius Collard and Annie Veora Mikkelsen Collard, his siblings, Fay (Bill), Ruth (Charles), Joyce (George), Ed (Patricia), and Betty, and his stepson, Mark.
Funeral services will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, UT, with a viewing on Friday, February 23, from 6-8 p.m. The funeral will take place on Saturday, February 24, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing starting at 9:30 a.m. before services. Harry will be laid to rest at Heber Cemetery, 680 N 550 E, Heber City, UT. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. I was touched by Harry’s kind heart when he and Barbara took me, my brother and my dad, on his boat after the passing of my beloved mother.
Harry and Barbara helped to lighten our heavy hearts and we made one of the best memories that I hold dearly in my heart.

Harry and I were best buds all throughout our school years. And spent many memourious times together. I was close to the whole family….we lived in upper Daniels.
Spent many hours together working the thresher.
We had a very close friendship.
He will always be remembered! As a wonderful friend.
