Hary Alberto Viana, 84, died peacefully in his sleep on February 14, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Alberto was born on February 9, 1939, in Minas de Corrales, Uruguay to Juan Viana and Edelma Rodríguez. He studied history and philosophy in Montevideo, two of his favorite academic subjects, in hopes of becoming a teacher. He interrupted his studies to emigrate to the United States in 1983, to provide his family the opportunity for a better life.
A devoted father, a loyal husband, and a steadfast friend to all who knew him, Alberto lived a life well worth remembering. He was passionate about playing music, writing poetry, and all-things relating to the outdoors, spending many peaceful hours fishing and camping. He loved to laugh and he loved a good party. He enjoyed the best life had to offer: family and friends.
Alberto and Raquel were married in April of 1965. Together, they raised one child with unconditional love and care. They were married for 58 years. Alberto is survived by his wife, three siblings Miralba, Juan José, María Edelma, his son Javier (Amanda), and his three grandchildren, Marley, Luca, and Enzo.
Alberto’s funeral services are scheduled for Monday, February 20th, 2023 at 11:00 am with a viewing prior from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South in SLC UT. Interment also at Larkin Sunset Lawn. Everyone who knew and loved him is welcome to pay respects during his funeral service.
