  • Heather Lynn Condie Kingsford, 61, left mortality on February 20, 2022. She and her sweetheart bravely and gracefully faced cholangiocarcinoma cancer for the past two years. She lived her final weeks surrounded by loving friends, neighbors, and her family. Heather was born on November 8, 1960, to Mary Esther Christensen Condie and Robert Alden Condie as the third of four children. She grew up in the foothills of Mt. Olympus where she and her siblings have fond childhood memories of the neighborhood. The family enjoyed trips to Grace, ID, the R Lazy S Ranch in Jackson, WY, and Arizona. She attended Skyline high school and made many lifelong friendships there. Heather was a competitor and a multi-sport athlete. She played softball, basketball, was a member of the state champion volleyball team and participated in track and field where she recorded a 6 ft high jump! Heather graduated from Skyline in 1979. After high school, she attended BYU for a short time.

While at Skyline, she met a student teacher named Thomas Kingsford. After graduating, Heather worked at Stevens & Brown, a local sporting goods store in Sugarhouse. Tom, being involved in coaching, always found a good reason to visit the store, and the beautiful employee that had caught his attention. After Tom finally convinced Heather that he was the one, they were married on October 8, 1981.

A short time later, Heather and Tom welcomed their first son, Robert into their lives and Heather quickly fell in love with being a mother. While Tom worked and coached, Heather balanced work at Nordstrom and motherhood. Ten years later, Heather and Tom made the decision to adopt a child and Nathan was welcomed to the family. Heather’s pride and joy was raising her sons and cheering them on in every endeavor.

Those who knew her best coined the nickname “Mrs. Wonderful” because she was always poised, gracious and kind to those around her. These traits, combined with her organizational skills made her quickly successful at Nordstrom where she worked for 25 years in Human Resources. Having retired to spend time with grandchildren and organize her home, Heather realized her skills could be further utilized. She accepted a job in Human Resources at the University of Utah where she quickly made friends and proved her expertise. Heather was the CEO of her home where she kept immaculate family records, photo albums, spreadsheets, and lists. Her posterity will certainly benefit from her attention to detail.

Heather was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had the sweet experience of going to the temple for the first time with her son Robert, prior to his mission service. She was continually faithful and in 2010, was sealed to her spouse and sons for time and all eternity. Heather’s love for Jesus Christ and those around her gave her a capacity to serve as Relief Society president and in the Young Women’s organization. She also loved and served alongside Tom in a Young Single Adult bishopric. She was an example of humility, kindness, reverence, genuine love and care for others.

Heather loved those in her circle fiercely. There was never a time when Heather would miss an opportunity to support a friend or family member. She loved attending Tom’s Highland High football games, Robert and Nate’s sporting events, and most recently, events for her 5 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Heather found joy in the simplicity of life and loved gathering with friends and family whenever possible. Some of Heather’s favorite things were summer trips to Montana, Santa Night, Cookie-Rama, pruning her rose bushes and sleepovers with her grandchildren. She was the glue that kept her family together.

Heather was preceded in death by her father, Robert A. Condie. She is survived by her best friend and eternal companion, Thomas E. Kingsford, her children Robert Thomas Kingsford (Suzanne), Nathan Thomas Kingsford (Lisa), 5 ½ grandchildren (Mae, Grace, Grant, Duke, Della and one on the way), her mother Mary Esther Condie, sisters Shannon Condie, Robyn Sargetakis (Manoli) and brother Steven R. Condie.

Our family would like to give special thanks to all of Heather’s caregivers, particularly Dr. Heloisa Soares and the team at Huntsman Cancer Institute, the professionals with CNS, particularly the hospice team that cared for Heather during her last days. We are grateful for their compassion and service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation - https://app.mobilecause.com/form/q8Qfcw?vid=nburj

    Guestbook/Condolences

Heather was always pleasant, happy, and optimistic. Her fresh outlook influenced everyone she was around. It was hard to see her not feel well her last few years yet her “can do” and giving approach came through even stronger the last years of her life. She’s irreplaceable and will be missed by many.

Heather’s life was Christ like in her ability to lift and love others unconditionally. Such characteristics will be remembered by many and carried on by those she raised and loved.

So sad to hear about Heather. She was a sweet person and I enjoyed playing volleyball with her at Skyline High and seeing her at Nordstrom. Thinking about all of you in the Kingsford and Condie families. Jill McBride Baxter

    Dear Tom and Nate,
We were so very sorry to hear of Heather's passing. I have so many sweet memories of Spencer and Nate's Elementary and Jr. High years when the boys spent so much time together. Truly Happy Days! Nate, you will always be one of my favorite of Spencer's friends. Heather welcomed Spence into your home so many times with joy and kindness. Spencer felt her goodness in so many ways. My memories of Heather are filled with how she radiated a beautiful Spirit of light, grace. and goodness.

Tom, We appreciated the times our paths crossed again as Spencer, Michael, Megan, Christian, and Ruth were your students or knew you at HH. Thank you for watching out for them in the halls of Highland High. They all have their favorite Coach Kingsford stories and always speak of you with a big smile on their faces. Thank you for being a positive influence in their lives, one they look back on with great affection.

We send our deepest sympathy to the entire Kingsford family. May the Lord's Spirit and His Angels surround you and carry you during this most difficult time. We pray that you will feel His love and understanding as you go through the days ahead and that your memories and love for Heather will help soothe your hearts.

We send our love, Henry and Renee Schwendiman and Family
