Helen Christena Ewell Reed was called back home on September 27th, 2023. She was born in Nephi, Utah on July 12, 1923 to Hyrum Ezekiel well and Elise Leona Bowers.
Helen was part of the greatest generation. As a young woman she moved to Long Beach California and worked at the Lockheed Airplane Factory to support the war efforts. She was a true Rosie the Riveter. After the war she married Clarence Lunt Reed in Nephi, Utah in 1945. Helen worked various secretarial jobs throughout her lifetime and raised her two daughters. At the age of 50 she started jogging and was very proud to continue jogging well into her early 80's.
On July 12th, 2023, she and her family celebrated her 100th birthday. When asked what her favorite things in life were, she stated family, traveling, fast cars and chocolate. Her favorite travels were to many European countries and Asia.
Helen was a lifelong member of the LDS Church and held various callings in the church.
She is survived by her two daughters Christine (Wayne) Willich and Rebecca (Michael) Stout, Five grandchildren Nicholas (Alain) and Christopher Willich, Matthew (Lauren), Cameron (BreeAnn) and Daniel (Leylen) Stout, Six great grandchildren, Grace Anna Willich, Claire, Samuel and August Stout, Weslie Stout and Shiloh Stout.
Preceded in death, her parents Hyrum Ezekiel and Elise Leona Ewell, Husband Clarence Reed, Brothers Clyde and Robert Ewell, Sisters Barbara Christensen and Leona Hansen.
The family would like to express their appreciation and thank you to all the wonderful staff at Escalate of Willow Creek and Auburn Crest Hospice who both provided loving and compassionate care to Helen and the family.
A Graveside service will be held Monday, October 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. The service will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, which is located at 1950 E Dimple Dell Road in Sandy.
