Holly Jean Turner, née Mathews, our beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt passed away on July 16, 2021. Holly is survived by her husband of 42 years, James MacGregor (Greg) Turner; daughters Courtney Turner, Sandy UT, and Kaitlin Foster (Brian), Tooele UT; two grandchildren, Lily and Aiden Turner; siblings Patricia M. Craven (John), Warren NJ; Michael Mathews, Mobile AL; Lynne S. Jackson, Stonington CT; Jonn A. Serrie (Ann), Lawrenceville GA; Paul Serrie, Norway; and Patricia S. Wintle (John), Coquitlam, BC; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in New London, CT on November 15, 1955, to Jean Frances Perkins and Francis James Mathews, Holly spent her first 12 years in nearby Mystic. The family then moved to Mobile, AL, where she graduated from Bishop Toolen High School as a member of the National Honor Society. Holly chose to attend Auburn University; there she met her future husband and graduated with a double major in English and History. She continued her studies at Adelphi University where she received her paralegal certification. It led to a 35-year career at Van Cott, Bagley, Cornwall & McCarthy, where she was instrumental in developing young talent and meeting her client’s needs in areas such as Maritime Law, Social Security Disability, Bankruptcy, and Corporate Litigation. Holly’s integrity and honesty were paramount in her professional dealings, and they were never compromised.

To say Holly loved college football and basketball is a huge understatement. She was an avid Auburn fan (WAR EAGLE!!!!) and a faithful Utah fan. She and Greg were Utah Jazz season ticket holders for over 30 years.

Holly loved her family and friends unfailingly. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining, and accomplished both with skill and style. She loved meeting people and could converse on any subject with anyone. Her intelligence and wit were unmatched. Above all else, she was the friend you needed when all was lost.

A celebration of Holly’s life will be held on September 18, 2021, from the hours of 1:00 ~ 4:00 pm at the Turner Home. Please contact Greg at 801-572-5094, for details and address. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity of your choice.
