Howard Glen Ross, son of Albin Michael “Mickey” Ross and Thelma Maurine Hassell was born on August 22, 1942 in Provo, Utah. He passed away on Sunday August 4, 2024 at the age of 81 from a 30 year battle of heart failure. His first heart attack at age 55 damaged half his heart.

He was raised in Eureka, Utah until the age of 6 and spent the rest of his early years in Midvale, Utah. He graduated from Jordan High school in 1961 then attended LDS Business College in SLC studying business. He worked in mining equipment sales for Denver Gardner, Cate Equipment and followed in his dad's footsteps with Air & Equipment Sales then with his brothers started Ross Equipment in Midvale, Utah.

He married the love of his life, Carol Irene Hogenson, on July 10, 1965 in the Salt Lake City Temple, just celebrating 60 years of marriage. They built their first home in Midvale, then moved to Sandy to raise their family of 3 boys. After Howard’s first heart attack, he retired and they moved to St George, Utah. They came back to be with their family in 2002 and have been in American Fork since then.

Howard was a friend to all, lover of planes, trains, and automobiles, Christmas and Carol Ross. He loved to snowmobile at night and boat at Lake Powell. He loved to travel in his motorhome and see the world. Some of his favorite places were Bandon Dunes, Oregon, Yuma, AZ and Alaska. He was always “all in” in everything he did. He loved his boys and taught them important lessons in life, he loved to give advice and make jokes.

We are so thankful for his proven strength and determination that gave him nearly 30 more years with us as he overcame obstacle after obstacle to stay with us. If he was scared he never showed it. He would push through adversity calmly and with purpose. He had an astounding amount of patience, a generous amount of love, a little Dad humor with a genuine smile, and a sprinkle of something magical all came together to make him truly remarkable. He never hid his emotions, especially his excitement. His grin would always show in such an authentic way that it was contagious. He made our world a better place by having him in it.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Ross. His sons, Troy(Deanne) Ross, Brad(Candice) Ross, Justin(Heather) Ross and 8 grandchildren: Tyler(Abbi) Ross, Shelby Ross, Kaylie(Zach) Crosby, Colby(Jessica) Ross, Cole(Dakota) Ross, Hanna(Nick) Garcia, Brynn Ross, Cambria Ross and 3 beautiful Great Grandchildren: Shayla, Diesel and Hazel Ross. Brothers Mike(Allene) Ross, Merrill(Randy) Ross, Paul(Janell)Ross and sister, Maurine(Rick) Helm and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S in Sandy, Utah from 9:00 - 10:00 am on Saturday, August 10. Followed by a graveside service at 10:30 for immediate family and friends.
