Robert P. Hansen

1926 ~ 2018

Robert P. "Bud" Hansen passed away peacefully on September 28, 2018 at the age of 92. He was one of the best of the greatest generation. He was born February 2, 1926 in Mt. Pleasant, UT, the youngest of 9 children, to William and Sybil Hansen. He grew up during the Depression, wearing hand-me-down clothes, learning the values of hard work and charity. He was an allstate half back at Wasatch Academy and played football for the U of U. His military service was in the National Guard. He met his wife Marilyn Jenkins a the ‘U' and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1949. He worked for IML Freight Trucking Company in Salt Lake for several years then was transferred to Provo to manage the terminal there.

In 1966 he bought and operated Honda of Salt Lake motorcycle dealership. He built 10 homes and 2 apartment buildings over the years and was a great example of industriousness, confidence and vision. He was a very loving and joyous husband and father and adored his grandchildren.

He enjoyed family adventures and water sports at his beloved home on Bear Lake, and weekly golfing with his buddies. Family motorhome adventures from Vancouver to Acapulco and fishing Yellowstone to Flaming Gorge to Fish Lake and Lake Powell were special times.

He and Marilyn served in various positions in the church and cherished the relationships with many wonderful friends. They traveled the world in their later years from Europe to the Middle East, from Russia to China with many amazing experiences and insights.

Bud was preceded in death by Marilyn and granddaughter Christie. He is survived by son Robert P. Hansen, Jr. (Karen), daughter Mary Suzanne Ryberg, grandchildren Eric, Kelly, Andrew, Emily and Elizabeth. Bud and Marilyn will be loved forever and missed immensely by all. Until we meet again.

Funeral services will be held Friday October 5, 2018, at 12:30 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, where friends and family may visit from 11:30 to 12:30. Lunch to follow at Robert Jr.'s home for family able to attend.
