Stephanie Rae Bakke

1969 ~ 2016

Stephanie Rae Bakke, 47, of Oakley, Utah, quietly slipped away on August 11, 2016, after a hard and courageous battle with LUPUS. She was being cared for by family and loved ones, at the home of her parents, Curtis and Cheryl Bakke, in Sandy, Utah.

Stephanie\s bright and shining spirit was born into this world May 20, 1969 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The world was blessed. She grew up in Sandy, Utah. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Murray, Utah. She attended Brighton High School and Valley High School to graduate in 1987. Her life began at the base of the Wasatch Mountains and she became a mountain child. During her teenage years she worked at Snowbird Ski Resort, and made so many wonderful friends. In her 20's she made the move to Lake Tahoe on her own. She spent many years working at Squaw Valley Resort. These were jobs Stephanie loved, and took a lot of pride in. She loved the snow covered mountains, she loved skiing, and she loved all the people she met and worked with. So many of those friendships remained strong, and continued for years after leaving both places.

After her return back to Salt Lake, she went back to work for the family business, Stainless Steel Accessories Manufacturing Inc. She practiced her own special brand of business relationships, for which she became widely known, and loved by many. Her sense of wit, humor, and silliness infected everyone she came in contact with. Her smile, and sweet voice, became her trademark. Her fun approach touched so many, and brightened everyone she came into contact with. In her last years, Stephanie lived, in Park City and Oakley, Utah where she made even more great friends of whom she loved dearly.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her brother Rick, favorite Uncles Hal Dewey, Ray Gorder, and Lowell Bakke, and her two best friends Linda Holder and Michelle Pinto, who perished a couple of months apart in 1992.

Steph is survived by her loving parents Curtis and Cheryl Bakke, brothers Steve (Cari), Cory, and Scott, and little Sister, her best friend in the world, Sherrie. She was loved by many nieces, Courtney and Caysie, and nephews, John, Cayden, Preston, Steven, and Cameron, aunts and uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.

Services for Stephanie will be held Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy Utah. A viewing will be held from 9-10:45 am followed by a graveside service at 11 am. All who knew and loved Steph are welcome to attend.

Stephanie loved her family dearly, she loved the mountains, she loved her dogs and cat, and she loved her friends with all her huge heart. These four things combined in countless ways to give Stephanie a full, and rich life. She was happy by nature, and spread that cheer wherever she went. Our Norwegian Princess, Stephanie Rae Bakke, will be forever missed, but she will carry on in our hearts, and memories.
