Donna Rae Cummings Taylor

1945 ~ 2016

Donna Cummings Taylor passed away on 24 June 2016, at far too young an age, from the effects of Lewy Body Dementia. She fought the disease for several years with the same grace, dignity, and patience that were hallmarks of her life. Donna was born 14 September 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Edwin Thomas and Verda Anderson Cummings. She was 70 years old. Donna graduated from South High School and attended the University of Utah. She married Steve Taylor on 14 December 1967 in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple. Donna extended a hand of friendship and kindness to all she met; Relief Society sisters as their president, friends of her children, the young women she taught in Church programs, the thousands of seminary students she grew to love during her eighteen years as secretary in the LDS Church Education System at West High Seminary, and anyone who was fortunate enough to cross her path. She had an uncanny gift for connecting with people, particularly youth, and a cheery, approachable, and non-judgmental disposition. Donna is survived by her husband, Steve, her brother, Ernie (Kathie) Cummings, her four children, Jennifer Miller (James), Chris (Lisa) Taylor, Scott (Mindy) Taylor, Kim (Justin) Turcsanski, and her grandchildren. Donna and Steve's marriage has been blessed by their wonderful children and thirteen exceptional grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law, Betty Parry Taylor, and her son-in-law, James White. She'll be missed and she'll miss us. More than anything she'll miss the opportunity to continue to be a loving grandma to her grandchildren as they grow and mature, but she will be watching.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 30 June, 2016, at 12 noon, at the Salt Lake Jordan North 6th Ward Chapel, 3836 West 4100 South. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 E.
