Siegfried Kurt Meyer

1947 ~ 2016

Siegfried Kurt Meyer, age 69, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at International Medical Center surrounded by family and loved ones. The oldest of five children, he was born February 12, 1947 in Cammin, Germany to Kurt Meyer and Helga (Meiszus) Meyer. In 1972, Siegfried bought a deli in the heart of Salt Lake City, eventually changing its name to Siegfried's Delicatessen, and operating it for 33 years. A renaissance man, Siegfried felt the only way to understand something fully was to break it down to the minutia. He applied this philosophy to life when it came to his hobbies including earning his pilot's license, scuba diving, sailing, riding motorcycles, dabbling in amateur engineering and inventing, hosting unforgettable social events, and traveling the world. Siegfried's abounding talents and kindness have made him beloved by not only family and friends, but business owners and colleagues alike. He was, and will remain, the cornerstone of the community. Siegfried is survived by his mother Helga Meyer; his sisters, Nia Maksymiw, Heidy Couch, Chris Farnsworth; his children, Christian (Julie), Andrae (Jen), Cara, Randi (Josh), Chad (Alicia), Cameron (Carly); and his soon to be 16 grandchildren.
