Sandra Boyce

1937 ~ 2015

Sandra Saari Boyce, age 77, passed away July 28, 2015. We know she is at peace because she is reunited with her son, Ron, who passed away in 1995, and her daughter Jody, who passed away last year.

Born September 11, 1937 to her beloved parents Margaret Christensen and William "Bill" Saari. She married Harvey Boyce June 17, 1955. Later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS temple.

She worked as an executive secretary for 15 years. Before her divorce, she was a co-owner of a boat repair business with her husband for 17 years. After her son Ron passed away, she bought and operated his boat repair business. She baked cookies for her customers. Somehow that helped "ease the pain of their bill" and helped her develop many friendships. Besides baking cookies she enjoyed boating and dancing. She even soloed in a "172" Cessna.

During the winter when the shop was closed, she worked part-time at American Express doing data entry. After 36 years of inactivity, she changed her life and became an active member in the LDS Church again. She was in the temple when her son, Ron, received his endowment in 2006.

The "Word of Wisdom" was a significant guideline for her new journey. She served in various church callings.

She was the first to "Raise Her Hand" when someone needed help. Her contagious sense of humor helped those who came in contact with her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Ron and her daughter Jody.

Survivors include Robert Boyce, Lisa Humphries, Michael Saari, and Tiffany Rutherford. She has 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday August 1, 2015, at the Holladay 3rd Ward, 4650 S Naniloa Dr. in Holladay, at 11:00am. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 ‚ 8:00pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E South Temple, and from 9:30- 10:30am on Saturday prior to the funeral.
