Kevin Henery Dorrity returned to his heavenly home into the waiting arms of his eternal sweetheart, Eileen Sheffield Dorrity, on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. At the time he was a resident of Heritage Care Center in American Fork, Utah.
Kevin is the third son of Rulon Ladd Dorrity and Stella Mae Rackley Dorrity and was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and was raised in Sandy, Utah. His siblings are: Edward Charles (Suzy) Bullock (deceased), John Dorrity (deceased), Shirley (William) Coyne, Reva Dorrity (deceased), Garry Lyn (Deborah ‚ deceased) Dorrity, Stella Dorrity (deceased).
Kevin graduated from Murray high school and received a degree in business from Utah Technical College. He served as a faithful missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Tallahassee, Florida mission.
On October 23, 1992, Kevin married Eileen Sheffield and became the proud stepfather of Randal, Kevin (deceased), Kristen, and Justin. Four years later, on one of the happiest days of his life, Kevin and Eileen were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS temple on February 28, 1996, for time and all eternity. Kevin continually expressed love to his Heavenly Father for his eternal sweetheart and made many journal entries stating his love for Eileen (deceased March 16, 2010).
The last fifteen years of his life were spent in care facilities but he still enjoyed reading his scriptures daily and listening to his music. Kevin was artistic and would draw pictures for many of his helpers at the care center, family and friends. Even though he was afflicted with many challenges he faced them with a good attitude and a smile on his face. Once he was asked, "Kevin, why are you always so happy?" His reply, "My mother told me there is always someone worse off than I am." Kevin never complained and accepted his lot in life with humility and faith. He uplifted others as they watched his struggles with such grace and strength of character.
Kevin, you will be dearly missed here on earth. However, it will be a joyous reunion in heaven as Kevin is greeted by the love of his life, his wife, Eileen, stepson, Kevin, parents: Ladd and Stella Dorrity, sisters: Reva Dorrity and Stella Dorrity, brothers: John Dorrity and Eddie Bullock, sister-in-law, Debbie Dorrity, nephews: Joshua Lake and Lucas Lake, along with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins.
Kevin is survived by brother, Garry and sister, Shirley (William) Coyne, Aunt Diane Workman, Uncle Calvin Workman, Aunt Lori Harper, Uncle Ralph Dorrity, stepchildren: Randall, Kristen (Carl) Black, Justin, seven step grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A family graveside service was held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S. in Salt Lake City.
