Kristen Marie Mathis Jolley

1984 ~ 2018

Kristen Marie Jolley passed away peacefully on the afternoon of October 11th surrounded by family and friends.

Kristen was extremely creative and talented. She really was that person who could light up a room with her smile and effervescent personality. Kristen was passionate; passionate about life, her family, her many friends, politics, sports, arts and crafts, event planning, and travel. She loved to be in warm sunny places where she could spend as much time as possible outside. She lived for warm summer nights, always spending as much time as possible with her friends and family, usually late in to the evening.

At every moment, she lived her life for her family, especially her husband and two beautiful children ‚ they breathed life into her. Kristen was a University of Utah Football season-ticket holder, enjoyed watching baseball games, Utah gymnastics, and cheering for Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz.

In 34 short years Kristen accomplished much. She was a member of the first-ever graduating class at Juan Diego Catholic High School. She then attended Westminster College for a year before transferring to the University of Utah, where she graduated two and one half years later. While attending the University she joined the Tri Delta Sorority. To this day she loves her sorority sisters; they're all part of her family.

After College, Kristen distinguished herself working as a marketing specialist for the Ken Garff organization, the Utah Grizzlies Hockey Club, Rare Method Advertising, and the Chase Marketing Group.

Kristen is survived by her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Rex Kent Jolley. Rex was a loving, devoted husband. They truly were soulmates, best friends, and a "Dream Couple." He will miss her dearly. She is also survived by, speaking of great accomplishments, her daughter Evelina Kate Jolley, age 7, and son Thackery Rex Patrick Jolley, age 2.

She is survived too by her loving parents, Terry and Patricia Mathis, the world's best big sister Trish (Toby) Olson, her brother Anthony, in-laws Kent and Deanna Jolley, and her grandmother Joyce Mathis of Tucson, Arizona. Kristen also leaves behind many brothers in law, sisters in law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, her Godparents Fred Duran and Gloria Duran of Tooele, Utah, and her two furry children, Joey and Presley.

Kristen had many life-long friends from grade school, high school, and college. She loved all of the people in her life, and they loved her.

Rather than mourn Kristen, just think of all of the times she made you laugh. And please pray for Rex and the children, and for her extended family, and many loving friends.

A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy, Utah, Monday, October 15 from 6-8PM. Her memorial service is Tuesday, October 16th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, where Kristen and Rex were married, 3015 E. Creek Road in Cottonwood Heights. There will be a viewing that day at 10AM with the service beginning at 11AM.

Kristen's family invites contributions in her name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Utah. http://tribute.tributecff.org/kristenjolley

Her family would like to thank the many devoted doctors and providers at Primary Children's Hospital, and the University of Utah Hospital, who cared for Kristen all her life.
