Joseph Ezra Johnson

1938 ~ 2014

Joseph Ezra Johnson, age 76, passed away August 1, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born April 3, 1938, in Oakley, Idaho, to Ezra and Greta J.J. Smit Johnson, married Sally May Withers in April 1975.

Joseph was an avid rock hounder, campground host, wood worker and gem stone cutter. He enjoyed camping, outdoor activities, playing with his 5 great-grandchildren, driving "Big Red" with his wife and meeting new people during their travels. He served his country in the United States Navy and worked for Union Pacific Motor Freight.

Joseph is survived by his wife Sally; daughter Sharon Ann Johnson and fiancé Clarence Welker of Grand Junction, CO; son Joseph Kirt Johnson and wife Kristina of Grantsville, UT; grandchildren Gilbert Salazar and wife Tara, Monica Salazar, Angela Guhl and husband R.J., all of Rock Springs, WY, and Taeler Johnson of Grantsville, UT; great-grandchildren Preslie and Carter Guhl, Samuel and Cruz Snyder and Aurora Salazar.Also survived by his sister, Pauline Camomile; sisters-in-law Suzanne Withers and Lucille Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ezra and Greta; brothers John N. Johnson , Robert S. Johnson and wife Bonnie; sisters LaVon Camomile, Diane Roper and husband Larry.

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held Friday, August 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Rose Park North Stake Center. Friends may call or stop by anytime until 8:00 p.m. at the Johnson residence.
