Mary Sainsbury Visser, the young age of 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at her home. She was born on March 25, 1919, the daughter of George Thomas Sainsbury and Ann Evans. She married the love of her life Julius (Jude) Matthew Visser on April 6, 1937, which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they lovingly raised seven children.

Mary dedicated her younger years to attending to the children's' various needs, determined to raise them as responsible stewards who love their Heavenly Father and our savior Jesus Christ. Concurrently, Mary responded to and accepted numerous church leadership callings in the Young Women and Relief Society (Ward and Stake). Through those years, she touched and guided the lives of many noble daughters of our Heavenly Father and gained many wonderful experiences she herself cherished.

Upon Jude's retirement from Jordan School District, they shared many years of service in the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. They also were blessed with the opportunity to serve a Seniors' Mission in Micronesia Guam where they demonstrated a deep love for the people as they served and taught the gospel they loved to those they lived among. Upon returning home, they resumed their service in the Jordan River Temple until the sudden passing of Jude in 1999.

Throughout their married lives, Jude and Mary took pride in their more than 20 acres of hay, garden and particularly their gladiolas which could be seen by many as they drove past the family farm on 17th east in Sandy. Here, their greatest accomplishment was the nurturing of the gladiolas. Much like raising their family, it required continual attention: weeding, thinning, harvesting followed by digging and cleaning the bulbs in preparation for the next year's crop. Perhaps the farm was like surrogate off-spring.

Also following Jude's retirement, they traveled to Quartzsite, Arizona where they enjoyed the warmer weather as Snow Birds. Here they met and served many wonderful people from all reaches of North America and became lifelong friends. To them, we thank you for such good times as shared by Jude and Mary.

Mary's legacy can be summed in three distinct categories: Her love for her Heavenly Father and His son and our Savior Jesus; Her Family; and finally being a worthy steward over the land with which they were blessed and loving the labor.

Mary was blessed to be surrounded by a wonderful family whom she loved with all her heart. We have no doubt that she is now rejoicing with those who preceded her in death including her loving husband Jude, parents, siblings and son Kenneth and son-in-law Richard McMullin. Her legacy will forever live on in the many generations of lives she touched and whom she is survived by including 6 children, Gayle (Ronald) Hansen, Evah McMullin, Lynea (Brice) Dimond, Andrea (Robert) Marx, Paul (Gerry), Steven and daughter-in-law Darlene, as well as countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and those she considered family by the friendships they shared.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 beginning at 11AM at the Indian Ridge Ward, 9636 South 1700 East in Sandy. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening beginning at 6PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road, as well as prior to services beginning at 10AM. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
