Ila Jean Dickerson, loving wife, mother, grandma, and friend to many, passed away surrounded by family at the age of 83 on August 5th, 2021. She was born on October 21st, 1937 in American Fork Utah and grew up in Pleasant Grove. She married her loving husband, Kay, on September 6th, 1957 and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on February 25th, 1959. After which they raised their four kids in Sandy. Ila was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many church callings including many years serving in the temple with her husband.

She loved spending time with her family and throwing parties. She always looked forward to visits and sleepovers from her grandchildren and would happily whip up her mush with humps and eggo waffles. She was also known for her quick wit and way with words whether it be scrabble, crosswords, or writing poems for her family. When she wasn’t partying with her family she could be found making amazing food in the kitchen, fixing everyone’s clothes, or knitting and crocheting. She loved going camping and being outside. Ila loved Coca Cola so much that she even put up a Christmas Coke tree every year dedicated to her favorite drink. It doesn’t matter what she was doing, she was happy as long as family was around.

She is survived by her husband Kay; children Jan (Dave) Clough, Bryan (Tammie) Dickerson, Sheri (John) Dennison and Jill (Greg) Goold; as well as 10 grandkids, 16 great grandkids and her sister Earleen.

We want to offer a sincere thanks to all who gave care and helped her near the end of her life. She will be greatly missed by many!

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 12th at 11:00 AM at the Crescent 7th Ward, 949 East 10600 South, Sandy, with a viewing one hour prior to services.

To Uncle Kay and his Family,
You have always been a rock and chosen wisely. Your life and your wife are and were the best. My dad was always proud to be your brother and spoke about how you and Ila Jean were reasons for him going to the Temple. He would have been sad about her passing but is now happy to greet her on the other side.
My family offers condolences but because of the gospel knows you and your family will be comforted. My all of you know that we love you and wish you peace while grieving.

I am so sorry about Aunt Ila. She really was a devoted mother and wife. She loved her family so much. Jan, Bryan, Sheri, and Jill were her pride and joy followed by all of her adorable grandchildren. My deepest condolences. You are all in my prayers.

    Love,
    DeAnn

I was so sad to here of Ila’s passing. Oh how I loved & admired her. Kay, you are in our prayers. We love you dear friend.
I wish we could have known sooner. Ila used to buy Avon from me & some of her grandchildren would come to my house to pick up or pay for her order. Such a beautiful family.
I felt so close to Ila because we both only had one sister. We had a lot in common.
    Love MaryAnn & Mike Carter
