Peggy Jean Peterson Johnson

1926 ~ 2013

Wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, scout leader, "Candy-Lady" to the neighborhood children, and friend passed away August 17, 2013 age 87, at the Tri City Medical Center in Oceanside, CA where she was vacationing with family, due to abdominal complications. Peggy was the "Candy Lady" to the neighborhood children (since 1979). As they got married she gave them a candy dish to remember her by. She was an avid Cub Scout leader, bowler, gardener of her yard ("therapy"), reader, loved to entertain family and friends in her home, enjoyed decorating for all holidays, and loved to travel with family and friends, especially to Vegas and Laguna Beach.

She was born in Salt Lake City to Walter and Jewel Peterson and sister to the late Ted Peterson and his wife Norine Peterson. Graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City. Worked for Pembrokes, Shaffer and Duff (Oceanside, CA), ZCMI, and during World War II worked for the government Rent Control. Was sealed to Willis (Bill) Karl Johnson in the Salt Lake Temple by David O. McKay. They were together for 60 years. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Peggy received the scouting Silver Beaver Award and the District Award of Merit. Some of her church service include Stake and Ward Relief Society Secretary, Primary Secretary, Den Leader, Eleven Year Old Scout Leader, and Beehive Teacher. She loved teaching and working with children.

Peggy will be greatly missed by her children, Bill and Rama Johnson, Bob and Naomi Johnson, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and other family and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 24th at 12 noon at the Crescent Ridge 5th Ward, 11164 S Londonderry Drive (1515 E). Viewing will be held prior to the funeral from 10:00 to 11:30 am.
