Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend Rae MarDean Head Crockett peacefully passed away at the age of 92, on September 20, 2016, surrounded by her family at home, in Sandy, Utah. MarDean was born on April 4,1924 in Black Diamond, Washington as the youngest child of SergeSpongberg Head and Grace Leona Montague. She attendedBaker High School and Brigham Young University. She always enjoyed music and dancing and met her sweetheart, Thomas Luther Crockett,at a dance hall.MarDean and Tom were happily married in Hollywood, California on June 23,1946.They were later sealed together along with their three children in the LDS Los Angeles Temple in 1961.They raised their familyin Woodland Hills, CA andenjoyedleading YMCA youth groups in swimming and other sports at their home every summer forseveral years. MarDeanalso enjoyed sewing, painting, playing the piano and singing.She had a passion for great musicand loved attending Big Band Festivals around the country withher husband, Tom, for many years.MarDean and Tomalso lived in San Diego, then spent thelast twenty-seven years in Sun City, CA.MarDean and Tom shared the love ofthe game of golf and together won the 1976 Couples' President Cup at Calabasas. MarDean was an amazing golfer, having several championships at Calabasas, Torrey Pines and Cherry Hills.MarDean also dearly loved her family andcared for them beautifully all her life.She had a smile that lit up the room and was cherished by her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
MarDean is survived by her loving husband, Thomas L. Crockett and her children, Tom (son) and Teresa Crockett, Scott Crockett (son), Nancy Crockett Perry (daughter) and Richard Perry, Margaret Head (sister-in-law), 11 grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren.She was preceded in death by Serge Head(father), Grace Montague Head (mother), Jaquetta "Jackie" Head Vermillion (sister), Barbara \"Bobbie\" Head Manwaring (sister), Conrad "Connie" Head (brother).
Memorialservices will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary,1950East Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) Sandy, UT 84092. Friendsmay visit Monday from 10 -10:30 am prior to the service.Interment will follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
