Mark \R\ Collett

1956 ~ 2015

Mark \R\ Collett passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2015 due to complications from Diabetes.

Mark was born July 28th, 1956, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Elaine and Darwin Clyde Collett. He grew up in the shade of Mount Olympus and often reflected on fond memories and very dear friendships from the Rosecrest Ward and Canyon Rim neighborhood.

Mark married his lifelong sweetheart, Lisa Brady, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with four sons and triplet daughters. Mark's hobbies had a curious way of mirroring the interests of his children, some of which were: tennis, skiing, stringing guitars, launching model rockets, photography, barbequing, music and shooting. He was happiest when surrounded by his family.

He served an LDS mission in Indiana where he shared his love of the Savior. Mark's faith in Jesus Christ was a continual guide and foundation in his life. He found great joy spending time with his ward family and serving in various church callings.

Mark had a distinguished career as an Engineer, during which he served as President of the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute, President of Instrumentation Society of America, and on various industry and academic advisory boards. Meeting new people, as he traveled throughout the world, was always a source of joy to him. No family road trip was complete without stopping at a power plant or refinery for a tour of the control tower and conveyor belts.

Despite many years of declining health, he didn't complain and continued to have a full and joyful life. Even in Mark's most difficult days, he never ceased to be gentle and kind.

He is reunited with his parents and sisters, Marcia (Jerry) Warner, and Therese (Lynn) Bortolussi. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, and children, Nathan (Lori), Scott, Phillip (Laura), Mitchell (Kristine), Corinne (Zach) Dredge, Tess, Haley (Christian) Payne. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and a sister, Kathleen (LaVar) McAllister.

Funeral services for Mark will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Boulter Ward House, 13006 South, Boulter Street, Draper, UT. A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E Dimple Dell Rd (10600 So), Sandy, UT and at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
