Kenneth Robert Wells

1932 ~ 2014

Kenneth Robert Wells (Bob) passed away on September 29, 2014, in Sandy, Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City April 23, 1932 to Cecil Kenneth Wells and Marie Elizabeth Birtchet Wells. He attended South High School and the University of Utah, where he graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. Bob enlisted in the US Navy during the Korean conflict, where he worked as an electronics technician maintaining and repairing electronics and radar systems on navy ships, traveling to Hawaii, South Korea and Japan. While on leave, he was introduced to Carma Sue Johnson by mutual friends. They were married June 10, 1955 in Salt Lake City, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Bob successfully ran a business started by his father, Intermountain Electric, throughout his adult life until he retired and sold the business as he neared the age of 70.

Bob was interested in many subjects. He read extensively, and was always interested in subjects as diverse as technology and science, to Shakespeare and the poetry of Robert Service. He was a beautiful guitarist, and he loved big band music and dancing with his wife. He loved flying, and spent many hours aloft in his Piper Comanche. He enjoyed boating, traveling, and learning anything new. He was independent, disciplined, brilliant, and most importantly, devoted to his wife and children. He set an example for his children, and provided many wonderful and unique experiences for his family.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Carma Sue, and his four children Sam (Cecilia) Wells, Victor Wells, Bret (Tara) Wells, and Sally Ann (James) Burns, as well as 6 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the many healthcare providers and caregivers that have provided compassionate service for Ken and assistance to the family over the years.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 3, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. Friends and family may express their condolences beginning 1 hour prior to the service or online at Larkinmortuary.com.
