Alton William ("Bill") Fuller Jr.

1923 ~ 2015

\"Bill\" as we all knew him, was the most patriotic man that many of us ever knew. He passed away at the age of 91 at the Copper Ridge Heath Care Facility in West Jordan, Utah on January 6th, 2015 at 3:05 am. He not only loved his family and country unconditionally, but also loved his membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a strong testimony of the divinity of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. He had a good heart filled with love for his fellow man. He was a \"people person\" that trusted and loved people from every walk of life. He would always give service freely to those that needed help and always gave people the benefit of the doubt. He would go out of his way for many public and church service projects.

Bill was born in Seattle Washington in 1923, to Mildred and Alton William Fuller Sr. He was their only child. He had a good childhood with wonderful parents, grandparents and relatives that loved him. Bill and his parents moved to California in 1938 when he was 15 years old. When Bill heard about Pearl Harbor, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He first served in Guam where he survived a typhoon and then went to Okinawa until the end of WWII. After the war Bill was transferred to China until 1947. He later served during the Korean Conflict. For over a decade of his life he served his country where he developed an even greater and deeper love and gratitude for our great nation. In the last few years, his friendship had resumed with his Marine buddy, Jim Eshleman whom he served with during both wars. It brought him much joy and happiness to have visits with Jim and his wife Linda who came all the way from Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed their many phone calls and cards.

He lived in Camarillo, California for over 38 years, where he was elected as the first \"Honorary Mayor.\" Because of his great service he was known as \"Mr. Camarillo.\" A few of his great accomplishments were that he was instrumental in incorporating Camarillo into a full fledge city. He was also credited in encouraging the Highway Commission for the addition of the on and off ramps of the freeway into Camarillo. He was also very influential in getting them to build the Simi Valley Freeway.

He was very active and served for over 38 years in the Lions Club International in District 4 of the Santa Barbara, Ventura County area which went from Thousand Oaks all the way up the coast line to San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles, California. He achieved being the District Governor of that great area. He was helpful in keeping the eye sight program going which helped many people get glasses. When he moved to Utah in 1988 he was given an Honorable Lifetime Membership for his long devoted service to the club.

In 1969 he was appointed by California Governor, Ronald Reagan to have an 8 year appointment for the State of California, to be on the Ventura County Fair Board. When he was President in his last year of service, he fulfilled his assignment with great dedication, success and accomplishment.

He was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was baptized a member in 1972. He was a High Priest at the time of his death. In his last year of life, he attended regularly at the branch in the \Copper Ridge\ Long Term Care Facility. We wish to thank all Bills friends, his roommate Eddie who considered him a father image and all the nurses, aides, staff and Symbii Hospice who helped him so much. Bill enjoyed his relationship with LDS Branch President Tree and his wonderful counselors. Bill would want us to mention and thank all of his friends in the Monarch Meadows Ward, the Bishop Gregory Banks and his High Priest Quorum, and many neighbors, especially his home teacher Brother Ed Gebauer who was ever so faithful to him and Nancy. Over the years he has had many wonderful family members, especially all the great Les and Reva Olson Family. They overwhelmed him at times with their love, generosity and compassion.

He was always a fun and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend with a tremendous sense of humor. He was extremely proud of all his family and loved each and every one of them. He is survived by his first wife, Sarah Lunt Fuller McGuire and his present wife, Nancy Olson Arbon Fuller of 38 years, his wonderful posterity of 9 children, Bruce and Dee Fuller, Rex and Sue Fuller, Janet and Gene Latta, Cyndi and Bob Hickman, Don and Kathy Arbon, Debbie Sue Arbon, Dave and Sue Arbon, Diane and Dave Morgan, Darci and Craig Cordero, 47 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
