Jack Floyd Wiles passed away peacefully on November 22nd, 2023, at his home in Anza, California at the age of 91. He was born April 2nd, 1932, to Floyd Thomas Wiles and Ilo Nutter. Jack was raised by his father and stepmother Floyd “Tom” and Grace Bennett. He graduated from Jordan High School where he played football. After graduating, Jack joined the Navy in 1952, where he was stationed in Hawaii, and served in the Korean War. Jack married the love of his life Sharon Lester on September 15th, 1953. They met in kindergarten and have been together ever since. After serving in the Navy, he returned to his hometown of Midvale, Utah to work at his father’s gas station ‘Wiles Texaco.’ Years later, Jack and Sharon took over the business and made it their own, renaming it ‘Wiles Oil & Development Co.’ The entire family would eventually work for the business. Jack enjoyed living life to its fullest. He and Sharon’s favorite pastime was golfing at Willow Creek Country Club or watching the horse races at Del Mar racetrack in San Diego. They both loved spending time with family in Coronado and Hawaii. Jack had a great group of friends at Willow Creek, who called themselves the ‘Piranhas.’ While his friends may have called him ‘Grumpy,’ Jack was a softie. He had a heart of gold and would do anything he could for his family. He loved having his yearly boys’ trip with his sons and grandsons. Sometimes, his daughter would even tag along to Del Mar. Jack was an avid fan of the University of Utah and enjoyed attending football and basketball games. After nearly 39 years, Dad will be reunited with his sweetheart, Sharon. Dad, enjoy the long overdue rounds of golf with Mom and Craig. As a family we were so very blessed to have such an incredible father and grandfather. You will be missed! Until we meet again!

Jack is survived by his son Brad (Christy) Wiles, daughter Sheri (Lynn) Oscarson, grandchildren Dustin Oscarson, Chad (Kacy) Oscarson, Trevin Wiles, Caylee Wiles, Alex Wiles, Three great granddaughters (Sloan, Sierra, and Sydney). Preceded in death by his wife Sharon Lester Wiles, his son Craig Wiles and parents.

There will be a visitation the morning of Tuesday, December 12 at 11:00 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary (1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd, Sandy), followed by a service at 11:45 AM at the same location. Jack will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery at 12:30 PM.

Guestbook/Condolences

Jack will definitely be missed. He was a great friend who would do anything to help any friend or family in need. Every round of golf was more competitive and entertaining with Jack in the group. Definitely a lovable character that was truly a soft teddy bear inside. Farewell my friend. Condolences to all the family
