Jack Todd Ferguson

1958 ~ 2023

Jack Todd Ferguson, 65, of Ammon, Idaho, passed away on December 20, 2023, from heart complications. Jack was born February 6, 1958 in Oakland, California. Jack is the eldest of three children born to Jack and Doreen Ferguson.

Jack grew up in The Manor of San Leandro, California, and was proud to call it home. It was there that he made lifelong friends. If you knew Jack, you would know that becoming his friend meant being a friend for life. Jack attended Marina High School, where he was an active member of the performing arts community. His starring role in 'Horse Sense' was a source of great pride for him!

Jack was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during his teenage years and loved participating in church activities, especially youth dances. Here he met and became a part of the infamous San Lorenzo boys, who remained his closest friends throughout his life.

In 1977, Jack moved to Utah with two other San Lorenzo boys, Frank and Fred Lemmo. After spending a year there, he returned to California and moved in with Nick and Ruth Lemmo, Fred and Frank's parents. Initially a friendship, the relationship between Jack and the Lemmo family deepened over time, evolving into a familial bond. This transformation is the reason why Jack is regarded as another Lemmo brother and is called Uncle Jack.

When the Lemmo brothers were beginning their families, Jack moved to Modesto, California excited to fill his new role as Uncle Jack. Even though this created an hour commute to work, Jack chose to be close to his family. Jack prioritized his nieces’ and nephews’ concerts and sporting events, and regularly treated them with trips to the movies, one of his favorite pastimes.

Whether working at The Wienerschnitzel, Mervyn’s or San Ramon Regional Medical Center, Jack was always making friends with his colleagues and patrons. Since his first paycheck, he was always quick to help a friend in need and was one of the most charitable people around. After Mervyn’s, Jack went back to school and graduated in Medical Billing from the Institute of Technology.

Anyone who knew Jack, knew he loved pop culture and the movies. He would discuss the gossip of the stars like he knew them personally and always stayed up to date watching Entertainment Tonight or Access Hollywood. Some of his favorite stars included Donny and Marie Osmond, Maureen McCormick AKA Marsha Brady, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Jack also loved to travel, and would frequently visit Las Vegas, New York City, Disneyland and Disneyworld. Although he wasn’t afraid to tackle these adventures solo, he would often treat his friends and family to trips too.

Back in the 70s, while living in Utah, Jack vowed to never set foot in Idaho but he broke that vow and retired in Ammon, Idaho to be closer to his brothers Frank and Fred. It turns out, he loved it and spent the remainder of his life having fun with his family in beautiful Southeast Idaho.

When Jack suffered a major heart attack in December 2023, an outpouring of love and support flooded his Facebook feed. Although it seems unfair that he passed away just over a year after retiring, one thing is certain: Jack Todd Ferguson was loved and will be remembered for his loving heart, great sense of humor and unmatched thoughtfulness and generosity.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City, UT. There will be a visitation from 10:00 to 10:50 am prior to the services. For those unable to attend, services will be streamed via Zoom. Please click on the watch services link above.

On to the next chapter Jack. We are on this planet for a short while and we leave our legacy by our actions. You left a lot of legacy.. I enjoyed growing up next door to you on Andover as we had similar lifestyles. You packed a lot of living in 65 years and made a lifetime of friends in the process. Be proud of the respect you earned while here. Look forward to seeing you again in the afterlife.

Our friendship will always be so special to me. Whether 10 days or 10 years, we were able to pick up where we left off and there's not many in my world I can do that with. You are kind, caring and forgiving. All the best qualities people can have. I just can't bring myself to say good bye, only see you down the road. BIG HUGS JACK!

What a beautiful service for Jack today.
It still feels unreal. We knew he was not feeling his best, but WOW, this truly rocked our world. I know someday we will see each other again. Until then I will have to draw upon those many memories that I have. There will not be a movie, play, concert or Sunday dinner that we won’t be thinking about you Jack.
