One of the Good Guys
Salt Lake City resident, Jacques L. Delamarre, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on November 29 of natural causes. His loving wife of 57 years, Sara, was at his side. He is survived by his sister, Diane Madgic, of Anderson, CA, niece Jennifer Madgic of Bozeman, MT, nephews Kirk and Doug of Anderson and San Mateo, CA respectively, and grandnieces Emma and Kathleen.
Jacques ,“Jack”, was born in New Rochelle, N.Y. and grew up in Westport, CT. He spent two years in the Marine Corps before earning a B.A. from New York University in 1963. He then enjoyed a long career in business, primarily in New York City.
In these years, Jack acquired what became a lifelong interest and expertise in boxing and was often consulted on developments in this sport and up and coming boxers.
In 1980, Jack and Sara moved to Salt Lake City. They traveled widely around the globe for many years. When not traveling Jack pursued a passion for collecting art, in particular iconic photos of Americana and of wild creatures, especially “Images of Nature” taken by famed photographer, Tom Mangelsen.
Dogs were another of Jack and Sara's loves, seldomly without a treasured canine pet throughout their marriage.
Jack loved watching the Utah Jazz basketball team, and served up hearty meals to his family and guests. A repeated request was for his special spaghetti sauce that he simmered on the stove for hours.

Sara I am so sorry to hear of Jacques' passing! He was one of my favorite bosses and friend from EIMCO. He had such a fun personality that always made me laugh - from his funny hats to his antics in the office. He also helped us feed a group of feral cats that lived under the offices and in the storage area. He was indeed one of the good guys and will be sorely missed!
I met Jack in 1997 when I worked alongside him as a guest services agent at the Holiday Inn Downtown in Salt Lake City. after I had recently moved to Salt Lake City from Las Vegas, NV. Always upbeat, quick-witted, and funny, while at the same time also an very encouraging and sincere individual, Jack was a unique person whose style and panache rarely, if ever, failed to charm the hotel's patrons as well as his fellow employees. Although I only worked with Jack for a little over a year at the Holiday Inn Downtown (and left Salt Lake City in 1999 after having lived there only two years), Jack and I established a rapport that lasted for over 25 years thereafter, and we would keep in keep in contact by phone regardless of how far from Salt Lake City my adventures in life took me. Jack was just that kind of a guy. He made a lasting positive impression on people, and was the quintessence of definition of good company - a person who is pleasant and entertaining to be with. Jack will surely be missed. My sincere condolences to his wonderful, pleasant and, likewise, charming wife Sara.
