Hunter Houston, loving father, brother, and uncle peacefully yet unexpectedly passed away in his home in West Valley City, UT on March 19, 2022. His birth was celebrated in Vernal, UT on October 29, 1975, to Jack and Mary Ann (Sutton) Houston.

As a child, he had a passion for playing baseball and basketball. As a teenager, he played football and ran track & field. He was a great athlete with a competitive streak and always strived to win.

Hunter’s twenty-year dedication to UDOT has left a vacancy with his UDOT family, as a Lab Manager testing various soils and aggregates, and in winter plowing snow. He made lasting friendships with this special group of people.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his beautiful daughter Emma. He enjoyed hunting, spending time at the Clear Creek property, fishing, and four-wheeling with family and friends. Hunter was generous, kind, and big-hearted. His boisterous personality will surely be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Mary Ann (Sutton) Houston. Hunter is survived by his daughter Emma, sisters Jacoba (Greg) Disinger, Anna Marie (Booker) Tueller, and JoAnna (Frank) Pedroza; brother Christopher (Monika) Pathe; uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Jim,
Hard to believe this earthly "adventure" has come to an end. Your generosity and friendship is something I will cherish. Certainly hunting will never be the same without you. Thanks for being a blessing in my life and the lives of my family. Save a couple of roosters for me as you hunt with Athena.

- Brian O'Mara

Hunter was a wonderful and trusted friend. I have always cherished out-fishing him on the "super-secret" Mirror Lake (of course he never admitted it). We shared many laughs and great times during the construction of Mountain View Corridor. The hummingbird frenzy at the cabin and 4-wheeling will be orever in my heart/memory, truly, Dalia-Houston, TX

I am so sorry for your loss. Jim was such a large part of my childhood and young adulthood with my dad's rides, playing volleyball in the backyard and riding in the old jeep when the hood popped open on us. I will always remember his smile and the competitive streak he had when playing softball. He was so generous with his time, helping my dad and letting us use his four wheeler when we came to Clear Creek to visit. Thinking of all of you!

So sorry for your loss. This is heartbreaking. Jim was our “neighbor” in Clear Creek. We are grateful to have met him and for the opportunity to see a fabulous father in action. He will be sorely missed, but we are fortunate to have met him and to have had a great dose of his sense of humor.
