Obituary
James Arthur Bradway II, MD (1950–2026)
James Arthur Bradway II, 76, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born in Oklahoma City on April 25, 1950, to the late James Arthur Bradway and Norma Beth Nelson, James became known to those who love him most as Dad, Jim and Brad. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Blessed with a keen mind, Jim became a board-certified anesthesiologist, working with both patients and residents at the University of Utah for 30 years. He was well known throughout hospital hallways in the Salt Lake Valley due to his jovial and irreverent nature as well as his expertise. After retirement, the library became his sanctuary as he searched for new sci-fi worlds to discover.
Jim did his best to encourage the strange, the quirky and the weird within everyone in spite of any resistance that he met. Always ready with a terrible joke, he continually searched for oddities to share and embarrassment to spread.
Jim is survived by his six children, Katherine (Ryan), James, Rebekah, David, Hannah (Christoph) and Geoffrey; five grandchildren; his siblings, Edward (Teresa), Elizabeth (Samuel) and Kevin (Claudia) as well as nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A private service will be held on Friday, June 5. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The Utah Food Bank.
