James Daniel Sloan, known to family and friends as Jimmy, passed away on March 15, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at age 51.
He was born on February 13, 1975, in Price, Utah, to Tom Sloan and Debbie (Blaine) Major, and grew up in Kearns, Utah, where he formed many of the relationships that remained important throughout his life.
Jimmy worked for many years as an automotive painter, a craft he dedicated himself to. He was respected for his skill, attention to detail, and strong work ethic, and took satisfaction in his work and what he accomplished. Over the years, he built lasting connections with coworkers and became part of the communities around him.
He will be remembered for his easygoing nature, his sense of humor, and the way he connected with others. Jimmy had a natural ability to make people feel comfortable and welcomed, and he valued time spent with those close to him. He loved country music and enjoyed singing, especially karaoke. Some of his most meaningful moments were spent singing with family and friends.
Above all else, Jimmy loved his children deeply and cherished his close friends and family with his whole heart. He was happiest around familiar faces, sharing time, stories, and laughter.
Jimmy is survived by his sons, Dallas (Taylor) Sloan, Austin Sloan, and Blake Sloan; his granddaughter, Merritt Sloan; his mother, Debbie (Blaine) Major; his stepmother, Lori Sloan; and his siblings, Tracy (Chel) Sloan, T.J. (Jeanna) Sloan, and Keven (Mary) Sloan, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Sloan, and his grandparents, June and Phyllis Harward, Sarah Elmer, and Joseph Sloan.
