Obituary Photo for James “Jim” F. Adams

James “Jim” F. Adams, age 75, died at his home in Taylorsville, Utah on November 11, 2024.

He was born on October 12, 1949, to Bill and Mabel (nee: Landes) Adams in Salt Lake City and spent his entire life in the Salt Lake Valley. Jim graduated from West High School in 1968 and excelled in baseball and bowling. He played third base for the 1968 Class A state championship team and was also selected for the All-Star team that same year.

Jim married Marge Croxford (nee: Dunlop) in 1996 during a romantic getaway aboard a riverboat on the Colorado River. Marge and Jim spent ten years together and enjoyed bowling and weekend getaways with their friends to Wendover. They later divorced.

Jim was an avid golfer, but he excelled in bowling. His 3-game series total of 838 in 1987 earned him the all-time Utah record which he held for 4 years. His high-level bowling scores could be found for decades in the Tribune sports pages.

Jim is survived by his former spouse, Marge and his step-granddaughter Miranda Evans, several cousins and cherished friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and extended family members.

One of his closest friends described Jim as a kind, sincere, quiet man with a heart of gold. Those who knew him well would heartily agree.

He will be buried near his parents at the Larkin Sunset Garden Cemetery on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 10am. Family and friends are invited. Arrangements are being handled by Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S. Sandy, UT 84092. 801-571-2771.

So sad to hear of Jim’s passing. We had great memories of working together and later dating. He was so fun to be around. He took care of his mother with Love. The three of us enjoyed many dinners together. He will be missed.

Jim was a special guy who never let a friend down. One of my greatest memories is of graduation night 1968 and Jim and me in my dads Volkswagon bus after the graduation ceremonies went to the Woodland
drive in and tried to score some chicks. Well I won't go any further with that but after the movies about 4:30 in the morning we ended up at Denny's on North Temple. I looked in the newspaper stand and Robert Kennedy had been shot. That was the headline.
Jimmy will be missed and I wish I would have stayed in contact!
Love You Man!!

When my grandmother adopted me, Jim welcomed me into his home with open arms. He cared for me as his own, gave me my very own bedroom, and showed me so much love. Jim had such a big heart, and he loved with all of it.

I have so many fond memories of Jim and Grandma Mabel that I will always treasure. From lively games of Scrabble at the dinner table, to summer dips in Mabel's community pool, each moment spent with them was filled with warmth and joy. I’ll never forget Jim's unexpected love for my first dog, Bogart, even though he swore he'd never allow another dog after losing his beloved dogs Rough and Ready.

I feel so grateful for the years I got to share with him. He will be missed.
