Salt Lake City, Utah on Friday October 22, 2021, Jan Roberts, our beloved mother and family matriarch, passed away at her home following a brief battle with cancer. She was 87 years old.

Jan was born September 16, 1934 to Harlan Cromley and Irene Myers Cromley in Youngstown, Ohio.

Jan lived a long, fruitful, and fulfilling life. She loved researching family ancestors, which often led her to traveling the world. Jan enjoyed gardening, especially working in her rose garden and arbor. She valued technology, finding uses for computers, tablets, and smart phones to make her life richer.
Her greatest passion, though, was caring for her family.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Irene Cromley, sister Virginia Krumat, first husband Sam Roberts, daughter Sudie Ferris, and granddaughter Bonnie Moore. Those of us left behind to mourn include husband, Sheldon Smith, brother Ken Cromley of Corrales, NM, plus sons Jon Roberts of Las Cruces, NM and Chris Roberts of Chicago, IL. There are five other grandchildren who mourn, including Michael Jon Roberts of Moreno Valley, CA, Cassie Moore of Portland, OR, Jessie Roberts of Las Cruces, NM, Kevin Roberts of Kingman, AZ, and Keith Roberts of Las Cruces, NM. There are four additional great-grandchildren who will miss her love: Dominic Moore and Devlin Vasey of SLC, UT, plus Mia Roberts and Max Roberts of Moreno Valley, CA.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 29th, 2021, at 10:30 AM at Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 South Redwood Road. Committal to follow at Grantsville City Cemetery, 336 West Main Street, Grantsville, Utah.

Guestbook/Condolences

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Jan. She was a dear sweet person and cousin in my life. I will miss her presence as will the rest of the family. I am hoping my nephew Russell can keep up the work on the Cromley heritage.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.
