Born on June 25, 1959, to Carma + Albert Wilcox in Provo, Utah. Jana Lee Wilcox, the oldest sister of eventually eight siblings, she cared deeply for her family and a special fondness for her Grandma Hartley, Aunt Phyllis & Uncle Fred, and BFF/Cousin/Sister Karen Loveland. Growing up she loved the adventures with her beloved siblings and cousins chasing butterflies and picking elderberries at Grandma’s Farm. There was probably some trouble causing too, but Grandma would hear none of that about her little Jana Lee, the *only* person allowed to call her by her full name, maybe that’s why she had so many nicknames?

If they’d had such a thing, she’d definitely have been voted “Best Hair” in high school, though she could also carry the crown for most likely to leave this small town. She lived a thousand lifetimes in such a short life. Through her journeys, she collected carnival glass, beanie babies, and hearts. From the latter, she raised and fiercely loved her 6 children, always giving more than she ever had, and probably should. She gave birth to a ready-made music machine for those long family road trips to Boulder Mountain. Everyone had their singing part “Under the Boardwalk”, with each passing mile closer to mouthwatering fishing holes and the beautiful mountains she loved to share with family and friends, if you knew Jana, you were invited to “Boulder Mountain”.

Always the life of the party, especially if that party involved a Super Bowl with a certain hue of Orange + Blue (Go Broncos!). She loved football and was the ultimate sideline mom cheering on her kids as they chased their field of dreams. Her fierceness is championed in the lives and spirit in each of her children, and especially her 10 grandchildren, whose Nana was filled with more sweetness and love for them than all Candy Cookie Fests combined.

In her career, she helped people see better. In her life, she just wanted to help people do better. A couch or a book, it was yours to borrow as long as you might need. And anything you wanted to know about the latest true crime story, she’d tell you.

Late in life, she finally met the Yin to her Yang, Brad Hoagland, who made sure her heart was full, cheeseburgers did not have ketchup - but definitely extra pickles, lilacs were always in view, and he was just big enough to handle her pint-sized sass, #tamingoftheshrimp.

Jana is survived by her partner of 28 years Brad Hoagland; her siblings Albert (Linda) Wilcox, Shirley Burgess, Cindy (David) Parvizi, Harold Burgess, David (Babette) Burgess, April Finley-Marmer (Mike), Vicki (Joe) Bennett; more than a handful of wonderful nieces and nephews; her children Cristi (Ray) Vernon, Shawn Lingbloom, Monica (Ben) Lingbloom, Kayla (Nick) Broadbent, Patrick Broadbent, Jesse (Tanesha) Hoagland, and Nana’s grandchildren Bethanie, Nathan, Rachael, Shawn Jr., Sadie, Elle, Tyler, Myles, Teigan, and Easton. Jana is preceded in death by her favorite fur baby Bodie the best good boy there ever was, her beloved Aunt Phyllis & Uncle Fred, and her mom, Carma Burgess.

Our family sends our heartfelt thanks and tremendous gratitude to the caring and attentive staff of Western Peaks Specialty Hospital and Lakeview Hospital who made sure our mom had peace, and all the mashed potatoes and peas she wanted. A special thanks to Larkin Mortuary for ensuring her next adventure is along a road filled with roses.
