Janet Black Woodruff

1939 ~ 2021

Janet Black Woodruff, age 81, stepped into eternity to join our Heavenly Father on January 5, 2021. She was born on March 25, 1939 in Blanding, Utah, to Elda Jane Brown Black and William Morley Black, the youngest of six children. Janet’s family later moved to Salt Lake City where she met a handsome sailor, her sweetheart and husband of 64 years, Sherron Henton “Woody” Woodruff, who held her hand until the very end. They devoted their lives to their five children and their spouses, twenty-six grandchildren (one in Heaven), thirty great-grandchildren, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Janet’s most admirable attribute was her kindness. She lived a selfless life of service, light, and compassion, endearing her to all she met. She loved drives up the canyon, even if just for a raspberry shake. Missing her always are: her eternal sweetheart, “Woody”, Lurlene (Art) LeFevre, Donald (Roberta) Woodruff, Robert (Susan) Woodruff, Mark (Jenn) Woodruff, and Julie (Kevin) McPhee. Special thanks to the caring folks at Cottonwood Creek Assisted Living, Elevation Hospice, Aspen Ridge West Transitional Rehab, Pioneer Stake, Poplar Grove Ward, and the Salt Lake Temple where they served.

Due to the pandemic, the family will hold a private service at 2:30 PM on Monday, January 11, 2021. Those who wish to participate remotely via video conference, please send an email to: janetwoodruffmemorial@gmail.com. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Utah Food Bank in Janet’s honor.
