Janet was born to loving parents Lyman C. Pedersen and Bertha Farley Pedersen on May 15, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Janet devoted herself to lifelong education. Attending the University of Utah earning bachelor’s degrees in Elementary Education, Music, and a Master’s in music. She loved writing music and playing the piano. She also pursed a degree in Art History. She was accomplished in watercolor and oil painting. Her gift of painting will be treasured for generations. She exceled in sewing, needlepoint, and cross stitch. She enjoyed traveling to many locations in the United States and Europe.

Janet taught music theory at the University of Utah. She retired from Granite School District where she taught band and orchestra at many of the elementary schools.

Janet’s greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren. Andrew, Emily, Elizabeth, Steven, Brent, Ryan, Ashley, Mason, Michael, Stewart, Alyssa and Ellie and her first great grandchild on the way. The family enjoyed many summers together in Flaming Gorge cabin.

She loved her late husband Robert Ryberg and is now reunited with him. She will be greatly missed by her family.

She passed away in the loving arms of her devoted granddaughters and her loving caretaker, Tina Spencer, on September 1, 2022. Tina was a true friend and a devoted care giver to our mother. Tina will forever be loved and deeply appreciated.

Our mothers poignant concern for the door being closed and her family sitting in the correct room will forever be treasured.

Janet is survived by her sons Rob (Kristin) Ryberg of Park City, Utah, Bill Ryberg of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, Scott (Ardis) Ryberg of Bentonville, Arkansas, and daughter Karen (Dane-deceased) Lindsay of Murray, Utah along with 12 beautiful and fun grandchildren. Brother Lyman (Pete) and wife Jenny Pedersen and sister Gayle Buehner.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ryberg, her parents Lyman and Bertha Pedersen and son-in-law Dane Lindsay.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 11:00 am at Larkin Sunset Lawn (2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City). A viewing will be held an hour prior. Interment at Salt Lake City Cemetery.
