Janet Marie Somsen-McKinnon, age 71, passed away January 3, 2023, of un-expected natural causes; following a string of ongoing health issues, while at her home. She was born July 5, 1951, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Betty Gail and Gerhard Eric Adelt.

She completed her mortal journey as the heavens opened, and angels rejoiced as she met her Heavenly Father with open arms on Tuesday, they welcomed Janet home again. Her pain is gone; only pure joy, love and laughter accompanied by hugs and kisses from all those welcoming Janet into their embrace once again. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survived by spouse, Vincent McKinnon, South Jordan, Utah; two daughters, Lisa Hawker-Murphy (Pat), SLC, Utah; Colleen Stacks (Keith), Ogden, Utah; two sons, Ron Hawker, West Jordan, Utah; Bryan Hawker (Pauline), West Jordan, Utah; fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren.
Janet is preceded in death by her father Gerhard Eric Adelt, her mother Betty Gail Adelt, her three brothers Eric Hyde Adelt, Gary Cowley Adelt, and Lawrence “Larry” Allen Adelt.

Janet is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was an enormous Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed watching his movies and listening to his music. She was truly a lover of all things good in this life, and a very compassionate, caring, and loving soul.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 10, 2 PM at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 N St E, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103. Friends and family may visit Larkin Mortuary for a viewing from 12-1:30 PM., 260 E South Temple.

So sorry to hear of Janet's passing. I know my dad truly loved her and I know she really missed him when he passed away. I'm happy to see that she was able to find love and happiness in her life before passing and I know her family will miss her. My condolences to all of you.
