Janet Taylor Woolley, of Sandy, Utah passed away peacefully June 1, 2023, after a courageous battle with Melanoma.

Janet was born December 30, 1947, to Edward and June Taylor. She grew up in Salt Lake City with her parents and younger sister, Gayle. Janet graduated from Skyline High School in 1966. She went on to attend Dixie Junior College and Robert Steur College of Beauty. During her school years Janet was an accomplished steel guitar player and competed in many out-of-state competitions. After college Janet became a beautician and had many lifelong clients that she held dear in her heart.

Janet met the love of her life, Jeffery Woolley, in the fall of 1968, they were married July 21,1969, celebrating 54 years of marriage this year. They established their roots in Sandy, Utah and raised a wonderful family of four children: JaNae, Jason, Jeannene and James. On July 15, 2021, Janet and Jeff were sealed for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple.

Janet made a salon in her home where she could work but still be home and watch her children grow. Once all her kids were in school, she went to work for Fred Meyer/Smith's Marketplace for almost 30 years. Janet enjoyed the outdoors and camping. She especially treasured the Uinta Mountains where she made lifelong memories with her family and friends. She loved casting her line out to the middle of Lyman Lake and just waiting, even if no fish were caught. What she valued most was spending precious moments with her family. She would venture out on her four-wheeler looking for geocaches, searching for wildlife, exploring old tie hack cabins or just heading to a river. With skills passed on from her mother, Janet was an avid seamstress and sewed many things for family and friends. She devoted her love and time to sewing quilts and baby blankets for her loved ones. She gained a passion for gardening from her father. Her annual gardens never failed to yield an abundance of fruits and vegetables. What she couldn't eat or give to others she preserved by canning, a skill she passed down to her daughters, daughter-in-law and nieces. We will always cherish planting her final garden together on Mother's Day 2023. Her other hobbies included the Salt Lake Tribune sudoku puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and crocheting.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents, June Staley Taylor and Edward Taylor. She is survived by her eternal companion Jeffery Woolley, her sister Gayle Taylor, four children JaNae Howell (Jeremy), Jason (Candice), Jeannene Smalley (Vincent), James (Melissa) and 8 grandchildren who were the light of her life; Sarah, Dylan, Abigail, Elli, Griffen, Michael, Edward and Camden.

The family would like to express their thanks to Huntsman Cancer Center and her many doctors. Please remember to always wear your sunscreen!

Guestbook/Condolences

Jeff and Janet were our neighbors across the street for my entire childhood in Sandy . Janet cut my mom Lou’s hair and was such a sweet soul and great neighbor to our family. I’m saddened by Janet’s passing and sending prayers to her family.
