1938 ~ 2025
Saturday Jan 3, 2026: 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM
Janice Elizabeth Holgreen Meads beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ passed away peacefully on December 28, 2025 surrounded by her 3 daughters.
The reunion in Heaven with her husband Lee, her parents, brothers and sister we know was very sweet and tender in so many ways.
Mom was born on April 9, 1938 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ilet Holgreen and Elizabeth Lavon Hall. She married her high school sweetheart Lee Meads on June 26, 1956 which was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Mom and dad were married for 61 years before dad passed. They were blessed with 3 wonderful daughters who meant the world to them. Mom's greatest joy in life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was so proud to be called Granny by her 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren ( soon to be 22 in March), and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Mom was a devoted daughter to her widowed mother. She was always there to help her mother whenever or however she could.
Mom was a lifelong devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived the gospel daily. She served diligently in many positions in Relief Society, Young Women's and Primary. Mom enjoyed attending the Temple with dad and studying her scriptures. She loved to speak in church and share her testimony with others. She was an example to many. She loved her Savior dearly.
Mom and her sweetheart, Lee, traveled extensively throughout the US and internationally including Israel, London, and Mexico during those 61 years.
Some of mom's favorite past times were spending time with her family doing various activities. Family was the most important thing to her. Some of the things mom really enjoyed was to go boating and watch her family waterski. Mom enjoyed reading, crocheting, studying about natural health and healing. Mom loved to go for long rides in the car from the time she was a little girl. Mom was a very talented pianist.
Mom devoted her life to home and family and was well known for her homemade sugar cookies, rice pudding, and her amazing cinnamon rolls that were the best ever. If mom knew someone was sick or just needed to be lifted up she would take a rice pudding to them. She served so many people in so many ways whether it was doing a Sub for Santa (with dad), taking a meal to someone in need or just being a friend.
Mom's life was one of quiet devotion, faith and love.
Janice is survived by her 3 daughters Janalee (Kim) Peterson, Julie (Brent) Gygi, and Karen (Mick) Hardman, her 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren (22 in march) and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband Lee, parents, llet and Lavon Holgreen, brothers George and Jerry and sister Maurine.
