Robert Victor Tripp

1933 ~ 2018

In the peaceful early hours of April 13th, Robert Tripp our beloved husband, father, and grandfather left this world to continue his eternal journey. Bob was a kind and loving person who dedicated his life to serving his family and his Heavenly Father. All who knew him could feel his genuine love for them. He was an example of Christlike love and service.

Robert Victor Tripp was born on July 17, 1933 in Salt Lake City to LeRoy Charles and Victoria Tripp. Bob graduated from Granite High School in 1951. He served in the US Air Force in Japan during the Korean War.

On November 15th, 1955, Bob married his sweetheart Ruth Louise Barr. In 1958 they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a strong testimony of the gospel and a deep love for his Savior. Over the years, he valiantly served in many callings. Most meaningful was the mission he served with Ruth in the Washington DC South Mission ‚ one of the happiest times of his life. When Bob and Ruth returned from their mission, they were called to serve together in the Jordan River Temple.

He worked for more than 40 years at Honeywell as an Electrical Engineer. The last few years of his career were spent traveling the world overseeing Honeywell installations in LDS Temples and church buildings. The most important thing in Bob's life was his family. He would do anything to help a loved one or a friend. Bob had many hobbies including camping, boating, and restoring cars -- but he really loved to golf and played as often as possible. He taught Ruth to golf and they enjoyed doing this together. Bob had many talents and could fix just about anything. In 2003, he had a stroke that changed his life, but not his spirit. Throughout his health struggles, he inspired those around him with his strength, humor, and passion for life.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his daughter Debbie; his parents; and his three brothers and three sisters. We can't imagine what a happy reunion that must have been. He is survived by Ruth, his loving wife of 62 years; son Todd (Diane); daughter Karen (Aaron) Wiet; daughter Janet; many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his sister Marie.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 18th at 11:00 AM at Westland 1st Ward, 3200 West 7645 South, West Jordan. Friends may call upon the family on Tuesday, April 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd.
