Jean Bruner quietly passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Truewood by Merrill Assisted Living facility, formerly Canyon Creek Assisted Living in Cottonwood Heights, Utah at the age of 97. Jean was born in Correctionville, Woodbury County, Iowa to Kitty Clover Lake and Carl Claude Lyman on January 9, 1924.

Jean married Raymond Laverne Bruner on June 6, 1947 in Correctionville, Iowa. They later moved to Phoenix, Arizona with their family in 1954. Jean and Ray retired to Prescott Valley, Arizona.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Laverne, her parents, Kitty and Carl Lyman, and her siblings: Ruth Edna Fanselow (John), Julia Mae Cawelti (George), Jack Emerson Lyman (Hilda), Nellie Marie Sorg (Nathan), Paul Clinton Lyman, Margorie Doris Harvey (Max), and Elizabeth Frances Edwards (Leslie).

Jean is survived by her sons: Douglas Allan (Jeri), Dennis Leroy (Kerry), and Ted Lyman (Mary), Grandchildren: Dana (Scott), Lloyd (Missy), Todd (Sarah), Jana, Kyrilyn (Earl), and Tisha (Doug), Julie (Jay) and fourteen great grandchildren, numerous great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Jean was one spunky lady who loved her friends fiercely, attended her high school reunions for over 60 years, and drove her car until she was 91 years old. She also loved dogs, birds, nature, baseball (keeping her own score card for each game), crocheting afghans for family and friends, keeping a weather journal for decades, and an occasional margarita with Mexican food on Friday nights.
A graveside service for Jean will be held at Redwood Memorial Gardens, 1163 N. Old Chisholm Trail, Dewey, Arizona at a later date.
A heartfelt thank you to all Jean’s caregivers and Suncrest Hospice nurses who loved her and took amazing care of her as if she was their own loved one.
