Jeanne Lynn Hancox

1951 ~ 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Jeanne Lynn Hancox of Sandy, Utah, passed away at age 71 on April 28, 2022, following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. She was in her home with her family by her side.

Jeanne was born in Montebello, California on March 2, 1951, to Roy William Smith and Betty Jane Smith. After graduating from Magnolia High School, Jeanne parlayed a love of business machines into a long career that culminated in 18 years as an Office Manager for Intermountain Healthcare.

Jeanne first met George, the love of her life, in grade school. They became friends immediately, fell in love years later, and were married in May 1977. Jeanne was a beach girl at heart, and they spent their early years together in Huntington Beach. They spent loving times together with romantic strolls on the Surf City pier.

Jeanne and George were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Heather Anne, and Sara Lynn. In 1982, the young family moved to Sandy, Utah when George accepted a job offer from Sperry Univac. Jeanne loved being a mom and all that goes with it, especially the part of being a Grandma.
Jeanne liked reading and always had a book by her side. Fishing, playing golf with friends, and enjoying wildlife were her favorite activities. She loved to watch and identify birds. She also would take an occasional trip to the casinos.

Later in life, Jeanne braved through health issues that affected her mobility but not her zest for life. Picnics by local streams and rivers were a favorite pastime.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Roy, and Betty Smith. Left to cherish her memory are her husband George, her daughters Heather and Sara, her grandchildren Taylor, Connor, and Emma, as well as her brothers Randy, Rick, and Rob, along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held on June 16, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens—1950 E 10600 S., Sandy, UT.
