Our beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt, Jennifer Hatton-Ward Pulley, passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2025, in Draper, Utah, holding hands with her beloved husband. Born on December 10, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Frank Hatton-Ward and Isabella Scott MacDonald, she was the youngest of seven children.

Jenny spent her childhood in Holladay, Utah, and attended Olympus High School, where she participated in numerous activities and made lifelong friends. She had a beautiful singing voice and was a member of the Olympus High Concert Choir and Vocal Ensemble. After graduating in 1981, she spent a memorable summer working at Jenny Lake in the Grand Tetons, a place that became her favorite National Park. She later attended the University of Utah, where she supported herself by running her own catering business while also singing in the A Cappella Choir.

Professionally, Jenny had a successful 15-year career with Siemens Medical, where she managed a team that installed medical software systems in hospitals throughout the United States and England. Her extensive travels slowed when she was promoted to a project leader role, overseeing software development.

Jenny met the love of her life, Steven W. Pulley, at a Thanksgiving party in their singles ward. They often joked that they met just in time, as it was the last ward activity they attended before aging out. They married on May 22, 1998, in the Salt Lake Temple, beginning a joyful life together that spanned over 27 wonderful years. Their greatest blessing was their daughter, Isabella, whom Jenny adored. She took immense pride in Bella’s talents and was overjoyed to see her daughter share her love of cooking, crafting, and decorating. Jenny was Bella’s biggest cheerleader, especially at archery competitions, where she supported her every step of the way.

Proud of her Scottish heritage, Jenny embraced her roots as a “Glaswegian” of the Clan MacDonald of the Isles. Her and Steve’s wedding was a full Scottish celebration, featuring family tartans, a piper, and a traditional sword dance. In 2024, they reaffirmed their love through a Handfasting ceremony. One of her fondest memories was celebrating her 20th wedding anniversary in Scotland with Steve and Bella, where she was able to introduce them to her relatives in person and attend the Edinburgh Tattoo.

A natural hostess, Jenny’s home was always a gathering place for family and friends. She and Steve welcomed loved ones with warmth and hospitality, creating countless cherished memories. She was an exceptional cook and baker, and her legendary brownies were a favorite among many. Her love for the holidays was reflected in her spectacular and elaborate Christmas and Halloween decorations, turning her home into a magical place filled with wonder and joy.

Jenny was immensely talented and generously shared her gifts with others. She created exquisite door wreaths, designed beautiful home décor, and expertly reupholstered furniture, among many other artistic endeavors. Her generous spirit and fierce love for those she held dear fostered deep, lasting friendships and a devoted circle of loved ones.

Above all, Jenny’s life was defined by her faith and service. As a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings, including Young Women President, Primary President, and her favorite, Primary Activity Day Leader. She adored the youth she worked with and remained a mentor and friend to many throughout her life. Her compassionate nature touched everyone around her--she was always ready to help those in need, offering kindness, love, and unwavering support.

Jenny will be deeply missed by her family and the many friends whose lives she touched. She is survived by her loving husband, Steven, their cherished daughter, Isabella, her sisters Christine Edwards and Sheila (Nolan) Merrill, her brothers Frank, Hugh (Renee), Douglas (Lisa), and Andrew (Felicity) Hatton-Ward, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Jenny’s love, laughter, and light will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Ward Chapel in Draper, located at 420 East Stokes Ave (13540 South). A viewing will take place on Friday, March 7, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, as well as on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment will take place at a later date in American Fork Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bella’s 529 College Savings Fund at https://gift.my529.org/5LARB9.

Such an amazing lady gone way to soon. She grew up in my ward and attended school together through all our hard and fun times as a teenager and young woman. I am so grateful I got to see her at our last class reunion and get a huge hug. What a big heart she had. So friendly and kind to everyone! She was so proud to have her daughter be the photographer at the event and made sure we all knew what an incredible lady she was. She will be so missed by everyone that knew and loved her. Until we meet again ❤️

Only today did I learn of Jennifer’s passing. I find myself in shock and also in awe of the wonderful life my friend lived and the deep legacy her loved ones share. I haven’t seen any other remembrances from Jennifer’s friends in The Utah Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, the civilian liaison of the United States Air Force. During the mid 1970’s and the next ten years, Jennifer and I were cadets in the Mount Olympus Cadet Squadron. We attended weekly meetings where we studied military organization, history and leadership skills. Jennifer and I moved up the ranks together, from prospective members, to C.A.P cadets, to gaining our first strips and proceeding through the sergeant ranks until at last we became officers. Jennifer and I had many friends and experienced incredible things for kids our age that sadly aren’t possible for teens now because of how much the world has changed. Did you know Jennifer regularly received flying lessons in small aircraft? As a member of Civil Air Patrol she not only worked toward her pilot’s license, she learned about search and rescue operations for missing civilian aircraft in Utah and the surrounding Intermountain Region. Jennifer and I sort of specialized in Communications and regularly spoke as representatives to the press during searches and community events. We lead flag ceremonies out at the old raceway and at football games around Salt Lake City and the state. We spent 10 days every year at the State Fair recruiting for new members. Cadets were age 13 through 21, and we were proud to wear our Air Force uniforms in public. We looked like adults and conducted ourselves as such, despite her being 15 at the time. We attended summer encampments and grueling drill team practices from Camp Williams to Fort Williams to Hill Air Force Base. Jennifer regularly trained in Colorado Springs at the US Air Force Academy, and rode in Jump seats in the back of KC 135’s to attend Nation Drill Team competitions every December. Jennifer leant her lovely singing voice to funeral services for departed members of Civil Air Patrol. She was popular, beautiful, funny and wicked smart. I loved her and I wanted to tell you about how I knew her. Rest in power dear Jenny.
