Obituary Photo for Jenny Lyn Dean

It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, Jenny Lyn Dean, who unexpectedly left us on January  31, 2025. Born on June 23, 1976, a bicentennial baby, Jenny was a true embodiment of compassion, creativity, and warmth. She was always finding ways to bring comfort and joy to those around her.

Jenny discovered a passion for the arts early in life. She began performing as a child in the "Small World Entertainers”  and was especially proud of her role as Annie. Her beautiful voice and remarkable talent graced many stages, captivating audiences and leaving lasting impressions. Beyond the spotlight, her infectious laugh could brighten even the darkest days. She was also known for her passion and dedication as the stage manager for Viva La Diva for seven unforgettable years.  Her love for musical theater was contagious, inspiring countless others to embrace their talents and shine on stage.

Jenny became friends with many coworkers over the years.  She enjoyed working at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City, and we will always remember how excited she was to take us to see "Seussical the Musical" there. She also worked as a clerk at Albertsons and Wells Fargo and a medical coder at the University of Utah and Lineagen.   Most recently she worked a variety of security jobs, including Sunstates, Securitas, and  the Delta Center. She loved to describe all the things that happened at the Delta Center  "behind the scenes" that most of us will never see.

Jenny adored animals and left behind her beloved dog, Mayzie, and her cherished cat, Piper, whose companionship brought her joy and solace. She was a constant friend to all creatures great and small, showcasing her generous spirit and nurturing heart.

During her life, Jenny faced challenges that tried to dim her radiant light, but she demonstrated tremendous resilience in her efforts to find peace. As one of her  friends expressed, “Jenny, you were a constant hug, an unrelenting smile, a joy to work with! Your spirit lit up every room, and we will miss you greatly.”

A great sadness envelops us today. We take comfort in the knowledge that Jenny has been reunited with her mom, and that they are in a place free from pain and sorrow. She can finally rest in true peace and happiness.

Jenny left behind her dad, Robert Lynn Dean, siblings, Lara (Sam) Dean, Carie (Ron) Higgins, Amy (Dan) Haway, Eric (Emily) Jensen, and Emily (Olivier) Diansongi, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She is also survived by her cherished nieces and nephews; Olivia, Adam, Nina, Maya, Tony, Liam, Jack and Malika who were  sources of joy and pride in her life.  We would also like to include and thank her faithful friend, Jenn Barnes.

A celebration of Jenny’s life will be held on Saturday, June 21st, from 4-9 p.m. in honor of her 49th birthday.  It will be “open house style”.  If you would like the details please email LaraDean801@icloud.com or leave a message or favorite memory on Larkin Mortuary’s website and we will get the address to you when plans are solidified.

For now, we will hold on to her memory, cherishing the laughter, love, and joy she so abundantly shared with us. Rest in peace, Jenny; you will forever be in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, perform a random act of kindness, donate to Ruff Haven in her name, or offer support to the LGBTQIA community.

Guestbook/Condolences

My heartfelt condolences to Jenny's family and all who are mourning the loss of her light and laughter.
Jenny is an amazing soul who brought a smile everywhere she went. She brought her natural artistic talents to our coding team at the U and went the extra mile by working on committees for office parties, decorations, and everyday morale. She left our team to pursue other avenues in life but the memories she left in that wake of going on to new adventures are sweet and remain a part of my life. The people we meet in life are no coincidence. I'm so glad our paths crossed and she has a place in and blessed my life. May peace and comfort be yours in the days ahead and may you solidly know she's truly just off to another new adventure. ❤

Carie and family, words will never convey how saddened I am on your loss. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Jenny sounded like a wonderful person.

I have missed seeing Jenny these last few years. She fostered a couple of dogs for my dog rescue and was so loving and caring and gave them such wonderful place to stay until they found their homes. Jenny was such a sweet, caring woman. Much love to her friends and family, so very sorry to hear of her passing.
