Jerald R. Henderson

Jerald Ray Henderson, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on May 13, 1933, in Logan, Utah, to Raymond T. Henderson and Eleanor L. Schwab. Jerry grew up in Cache Valley, was married to Nona Budge and they have a son, Lee R. Whipple. Jerry later married Rhonda Olney and they have three daughters, Pamela, Jerolyn and Angela.

Jerry served in the National Guard and in the U.S. Army. Jerry and Rhonda moved to Salt Lake City where he began his career with Hercules, Inc. They moved to Lawrence, Kansas, where he continued his career with Hercules. They later moved back to Utah where he finished out his career with Alliant Tech Systems (formerly Hercules) before his retirement. After his official retirement, Jerry worked with Alliant Tech on contract in Colorado for several years. Utah being home, they moved back to Sandy after his “second retirement.”

Jerry always enjoyed the outdoors. Camping, fishing, hunting and horse pack trips with family and friends were some of his fondest memories. Out in nature is where his grandchildren remember him best. Jerry and Rhonda traveled all over the U.S. in their motor home and to several countries.

Survived by his wife of 70 years, Rhonda Olney Henderson, son Lee R. Whipple (Pat), daughters Pamela Godfrey (John), Angela Wilcox (Lynn), 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and his sister Ellen Wilkinson (Gary). Preceded in death by Jerolyn Monson, daughter.

A viewing will be held Thursday, April 17, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) in Sandy, Utah. Graveside services will be held Friday, April 18, at 1 pm at the Hyrum City Cemetery, 525 E. Main in Hyrum, Utah.
