Jesse Morgan, a land surveyor and lifelong nature enthusiast, died unexpectedly on January 8th, 2026, at the age of 29.
Jesse is survived by his parents, Kirk Morgan and Joann Gaydos; his older brother, Tim Morgan, sister in law, Aubrey Morgan, nephew, Flint Morgan, and another nephew still on the way; his twin sister, Kitty Morgan, and his sister in law, Rachel Romero.
Jesse was born in Salt Lake City on September 29th,1996. He was active in Boy Scouts and loved learning how to tie knots, orienteer and camp. Jesse earned his Eagle Scout in May 2014. For his Eagle Scout project, he coordinated a stream bank stabilization project to prevent flooding of the St. Mary’s church parking lot. Jesse graduated from Park City High School in 2015. Continuing the legacy of Morgan land surveyors, he worked as a surveyor for ESI Engineering.
From an early age, Jesse loved being in nature. Empowered with the skills he learned in Boy Scouts, he hiked and camped frequently. He especially liked to hike the Road to WOS trail in his childhood home of Summit Park.
Jesse connected with others through music, books and videogames. He played piano throughout his childhood, and branched out into playing saxophone and bassoon in the Park City High School band. He enjoyed music of all genres, from classical music at the Utah Symphony to ska music at the Union. Jesse also loved to read and though he was usually quiet, he would open up and avidly engage in discussions about philosophy. His other passions included collecting and playing Magic the Gathering and painting Warhammer figurines.
Jesse was a devoted uncle, brother and son. He would make a point to include those who were excluded and his compassion for the misunderstood and less fortunate shone through in every action he took. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone else who knew him.
