  • Jimmie Richard Armitage passed away in West Jordan, Utah at the age of 81, Saturday, December 11th after battling heath issues. He was born December 29, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Youngest son of seven children to Firth Settle Armitage and Mabel Lavene Luker Armitage.

Married Mary Jean Niederhauser in the Salt Lake Temple, June 22, 1962 for 19 years until she passed away on October 23, 1981. She was his heavenly angel. Married Diana Ruth Tiona, in West Jordan, Utah January 3, 1984. Diana is his earthly angel who cared for him so sweetly until his last day.

He served in the United States Marine Corps (Oorah!). Shortly after his honorable discharge he served an LDS mission in the central states. He started out working for the family business F.S. Armitage and Sons Painting Company. Later his career path took him to Hercules and Eimac/Varian. He then returned to, and retired from F.S. Armitage Sons, the family business.

His happy place was the family property at Strawberry Pinnacles until it was sold because of his declining health. He cherished his opportunity to take a couple of cruises with Diana to Alaska. He was a lifetime fan of the Utah Utes, Utah Jazz and San Francisco 49ers.
His love of all things tools was safely held in St. Jimmies. He who dies with the most tools wins! He was also a proud grandpa of twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Survived by Wife Diana; and daughters Vicki Jean, Penny Lynne, Ronda Rae (spouse, Robert), Jamie Denise, Valory Ann (spouse, Marty), Teresa Marie (spouse, Phil); son Michael Richard; sister Patsy Baldwin; and ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents Firth and Mabel; wife Mary Jean; siblings McKeith, Shirley, Joyce, Roy, Kay; and grandchildren Tyler and Chambre.
