RUSSELL BLAIR KINNERSLEY

1934 ~ 2018

Russell Blair Kinnersley, Jr, 84, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away November 14, 2018 in South Jordan, Utah due to Alzheimer's disease.

Russ was born June 29, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Russell Blair and Mildred Peterson Kinnersley. He married Joyce McGregor on June 17, 1960 in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended Douglas Elementary, Roosevelt Jr High, East High and the University of Utah. He served his country in the Naval Reserve.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his church in many capacities. He was a missionary in the British Mission. He enjoyed continuous service in the church as Elder's Quorum President and High Priest Group Leader. He loved the youth of the church serving in the Young Men's Aaronic Priesthood and sports programs. He taught early morning Seminary. He served as a counselor in 3 ward bishoprics. He was on the High Council and a temple worker. He was the bishop of the Monument Park First Ward.

Russ' career included working for his father at Blair's Ice Cream, ZCMI Department Store, Hamilton Watch Co., and the O.C. Tanner Company where he retired after 25 years of service on August 1, 1996.

He was a loyal UTE fan and loved to attend the football and basketball games. He loved people. He liked to see them happy. He looked for those who were less fortunate and tried to lift the up and make them better. His greatest joy and love was his sweetheart, Joyce. He spent 44 years trying to make her comfortable with her struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. He loved his children and grandchildren. His Sunday dinners with the family were special. He was grateful to be a husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, and children, Douglas B., Lawrence R. (Marla), and Angela (Michael) Hatch, 11 grandchildren, sister Kay (Robert L.) Freudenberger, and brothers, Richard B. (Pamela) and Daniel B. (Shauna.) Preceded in death by his parents and a son, Ronald B. Kinnersley. Russ' family would like to thank the caregivers at Riverway Assisted Living and Symbii Home Health and Hospice for their loving care.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 21, 2018, 11:00 am at the Princeton Ward, 1005 S 2000 E. Friends may call Tuesday, November 20, 6-8 pm at Larkin Sunset Lawn, (2350 E 1300 S Salt Lake City), and 9:30-10:30 prior to the services at the ward.
