Obituary Photo for Joan E (Erickson) McLeod < >

Our loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on January 2, 2023. She was born in Murray and graduated from Murray High School, where she was a member of the Booster Club.

She met her husband Jim while he was home on leave from the Navy and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple, until his passing in July 2001.

She took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren Cory and Kylee, they were her world. She has a magnetic personality and could talk to anyone and know their life story in 10 minutes. She loved her job at Rite Aid and enjoyed all her coworkers and customers.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband Jim; her parents; brother; sister; and three nephews. She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Mark) Woodard; son, Mike (Rhonda) McLeod; grandson, Cory (Loly) Woodard; granddaughter, Kylee Woodard; and her pets, Jasper (Casper) and Ziggy.

A viewing will be held Friday, January 6, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South). Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 3:00pm with a viewing one hour prior to the service, also at Larkin Sunset Gardens. Interment will follow.

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss! Joan was a fantastic neighbor for many, many years for me growing up and for my family (Ivie and Jeanne Nielson and, later, Rob and Ryan) after I moved out. We all loved to have her come over; we'd sit around and just talk and always laugh - those were some great memories! She was good lady, a good person, and I will cherish memories of her always!

I have great memories of Joan. Loved her laugh and smiles. Marie would bring her into Rite Aid to visit with me. Always had an upbeat attitude and smile to greet me. I enjoyed our conversations. I miss those times.

Spending summers with Joan, Jim, mike and of course my hart relatives are some of my favorite memories. She would let me ride motorcycles in her neighborhood when I was very young. I will miss her. I remember her chasing mike in my grandma harts backyard and mike doing the splits (ouch). So many fond memories.

Joanie, I'm so sad to know of your mom's passing.
Joan has been a best friend to me for many years. Joan had such a happy out look on life. We shared thousands of laughs and smiles, weekly. During her hair appointment.
Joan had an amazing memory and never forgot to say" Hello" to someone. I will miss her fun and spirited personality. She was truly a wonderful lady. Love Diane Barker.
