Our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, and dear friend, Joan Middaugh Miller, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 18, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of a wholehearted faith in Christ and an unbounded love for all.

Joan was born in Salt Lake City, UT on Valentine's Day, February 14th, 1935 to Mildred Burt and Chauncey Delong Middaugh. She was a mother to her two younger brothers as her own mother raised a son with a disability. She attended Granite and Olympus High School. After graduation, she worked for the telephone company as an operator. She met John and married him on April 27th, 1956. Later, they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple. They dedicated their lives to raising their three children, John Christian Miller, Cindy Miller Thomas, Lori Miller Querry and serving in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Due to John's career success, he was transferred to many states some of them being Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and California. They eventually retired in St. George, UT where they enjoyed time with some of their dearest friends, some friendships lasting as long as 50+ years. Joan and John travelled the world visiting Jerusalem, Hawaii, Switzerland, and Germany. It is impossible to list Joan's many talents, a few of them being cooking the BEST dinners, baking her homemade cinnamon rolls, crocheting, sewing, knitting, reading about the Holocaust, serving, shopping, drinking Diet Cook with raspberry puree, listening to Fox News, cheering on all of her kids and grandkids in their athletics, traveling with their dearest friends, and faithfully reading her scriptures. She dedicated her life to Christ and ministered to others as He did. Even with her failing eyesight due to Macular Degeneration, she would read the Book of Mormon with enlarged print on her iPad every day. She served her "mission" in the San Diego Temple as an ordinance worker, which was one of her favorite callings.

She is survived by her husband, John Scott Miller; her children, Johnnie (Kat) Miller, and daughters, Cindy Miller Thomas, Lori (Joshua) Querry; her brother David Burt Middaugh, her other favorite children (dogs) Midnight, Tino, Tinker, and Toby; and her grandchildren, Connor Thomas, Alexa (Reese) Mitchell, Madeline Thomas, Lauren Thomas, Caden Thomas, Chase Querry, and Ceclie Querry.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Chauncy Middaugh, her brother Duane Middaugh, and her nephew Daniel Wayne Middaugh. We are so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ that gives us the peace that families are forever. Even though our hearts are broken, the knowledge of knowing Joan is greeting all of her family and friends who have passed before her gives us so much comfort. Until we meet again......

Join us for her funeral services which will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E & 10600 S, Sandy, UT on Tuesday, April 24, 2023. The viewing will be held at 11:00-12:30 and then graveside services will precede at 12:30-1:30.
