JoAnn Deakin Schneiter passed away peacefully on May 20, 2022, with family by her side. She is now in the loving arms of her husband, George, her son, Danny, and many family members that preceded her in death.

JoAnn was born on February 7, 1935, to Bert & Effie Johnson Deakin in Fielding, Utah. Her school years were spent in Tremonton and Ogden, Utah.

Mom loved serving her family and anyone that crossed her path. She loved people and took a genuine interest in their lives. She instantly became everyone’s friend and had a way of making them feel special. Her children and grandchildren were her world and greatest joy. She showed them off to everybody she met. Her strong faith and love of the Savior was evident in the way she lived. She encompassed the pure love of Christ and showed it in all she did. She loved to talk about her family and her heritage. She was so proud of it.

Mom was beyond generous. She always had a trunk full of pies, gifts, and love to share with family, friends and even strangers to brighten their day. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making Sunday dinners for her family. Her famous homemade fudge and divinity were shared and enjoyed by family, friends, and neighbors. Temple attendance was an important part of her life. You would often find her there, serving the Lord. Her capacity to love unconditionally was one of her many Christ-like qualities.

JoAnn was a class act - from the inside out. She always dressed like a million bucks wherever she went, with her stunning clothes,
gorgeous handbags, jewelry, and her beautiful scent of her perfume. She was always the best dressed person in the room, but at the same time would give you the shirt off her back. She will be greatly missed!

JoAnn leaves behind her 5 children; George, Gary (Kim), Stephen, Elizabeth (Brett) and Michael, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and sister Shauna (Lowell). She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Bert, sister Nedra, and son Daniel.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 31, 2021, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, UT. A visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:30 am prior to the services.

Your mother was an extraordinary woman, raising 4 boys is a brave thing to do! Her obituary paints a perfect picture of who she was and describes her to a tee. I remember her always see wearing a big smile and happy to visit with everyone she met. I think we received some of that wonderful fish at Christmas time.

I’m so sorry to hear about your amazing, beautiful mom. Although I wasn’t able to see her often, the times I did, she was so sweet and I really enjoyed talking to her. What a great, classy, giving and caring lady she was. I feel bad I was unable to be there with you today, to give my condolences in person and to
listen to your memories of her. What a great family she has.

JoAnn was truly one of a kind. Always gracious and welcoming, she found the good in everyone. She always made family a priority and loved us all. Family reunions and holiday celebrations were some of our favorite memories of JoAnn. We will miss her beautiful smile. It will be wonderful to see her again when we all gather for our family reunions beyond the veil of mortality.

I recently moved back to Sandy and of course drive by the golf course on occasion. It brought back lots of go memories of spending time there and in the Schneiter home. Liz was a very good friend of mine during high-school and my young adult years. For the life of me I couldn't remember JoAnn name and I always knew her as Liz mom. I happened to look at George obituary because I could see her name. Opon doing that I found that she passed away. I was so saddened to see that she passed away last year. She was always very welcoming to me and I felt loved. She was always gorgeous and put together. The beautiful red car suited her well that she drove around in. I continued to have a lasting friendship with Liz and I'm eternally grateful for that. My condolences to the Schneiter family.
