Joanne M. Lipp-Ottesen

1964 ~ 2021

Born in Salt Lake City, UT to Leif and Ilza Egseter on January 29, 1964 Joanne enjoyed her childhood camping, being outdoors and playing with neighborhood kids. She married Douglas R. Lipp, (later divorced) and together had 3 girls.

She worked for the University of Utah where she also studied botany and became a Master Gardener, was known as a plant whisperer, grew the most fruitful vegetables, and had the prettiest yard in the neighborhood. In addition, she enjoyed crocheting, rock music, antiquing, and puzzles.

With her second husband Dean Ottesen, they cherished time together going fishing, taking drives in the canyons, and trips to Bear Lake. Joanne will be remembered for being environmentally conscious, charitable, an animal lover especially dogs, and never letting anyone leave her house hungry.

On July 15th, 2021 Jo reached for Dean's hand after losing a battle with cancer. She leaves behind her beloved family; daughters Leah, Alicia (Rodney), Jacquie, son Alex, brother Richard, grandchildren she loved dearly from afar, godmother Julie Hendrickson, side-kick Suzy Cook, friends, and dogs Jagger and Oscar. Preceded in death by husband Dean, parents, in-laws, loved ones and fur babies. "Live with kindness, compassion and love in your heart. Kiss a dog or cat!"

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 1st in Taylorsville, at Millrace Park East Pavilion 11 AM to 1:30 PM.
