John Michael Holt

John Michael Holt, 87, passed away June 11, 2022.

Mike was born April 18, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Maurine Stephenson and Reed Edward Holt.

Mike graduated from the University of Utah with a BS in banking and finance. He started his banking career with United California Bank in San Francisco. He came back to Salt Lake to start his career with Walker Bank and Trust working his way to Corp Secretary. In 1976 he graduated from Pacific Coast Banking School, University of Washington. His thesis is in the permanent library of the University. He also served on the Board of Directors. He became president of Moore Financial of Utah and later president of Continental Bank. He retired from banking and attained his brokerage license and worked in Real Estate until his retirement.

Mike was a Mason and Shriner. He was Associate Chairman, Board of Governors at the Shriners Hospital for Children. He also served as Associate Guardian of Job’s Daughters, Bethel #13. He was a member of Wasatch Presbyterian Church where he served as a ruling elder. He was active in many civic affairs too numerous to mention.

Mike’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Nancy, daughters Yvonne Marie Hill (Neil) and Michelle Ruth Holt, grandsons Nicholas Ryan Hill (Lacey) and Andrew Stephen Hill, three great grandchildren, brothers Reed Holt and David Holt. He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Mackinzie Hill.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South, Salt Lake City, UT.
