Jordan Troy Ostmark

1990 ~ 2022

Obituary Photo for Jordan Troy Ostmark < >

Jordan left our family on April 3rd, 2022 with an incredible amount of memories, laughs and a void that will never be filled. He was a man of many talents and always put passion and dedication into everything he did. Dad built a garage for tools and to work on cars, Jordan quickly turned that into a wood shop and spent hours out there. He loved doing wood work and took such pride in his projects. From pens, to bowls, to picture frames, to furniture for the cabin. Lucky for us, he was an amazing cook and he loved it. We always knew we would have a good meal when he was the chef. To him, if a meal wasn’t a 5 star meal, it sucked. He was so smart and could fix anything. He was so giving and loved to take care of people. But from time to time he’d invite you for a meal, give his credit card and then let you know he’d put it on your tab. And everyone knew “his boat doesn’t run on ‘Thanks’”.

He was with American Express for 13 years and he truly enjoyed his job and the people that he worked with.

He also was a man of many names.. growing up we would get mail addressed to Bill Ostmark, at Zipz he would walk up to the counter when they said “Brandon” and he had to let us know that he was Bear Lake Brandon, but the name he loved the most was “uncle jo”. Brielle, Nixon and Delilah were so lucky to have him. They spent so much time on the floor building legos, reading books, playing toys and making memories. He loved their time together. The kids will miss their Chick-Fil-A runs. Jo always let them eat their fries on the way home.

Bear Lake has always been an important place for our family but Jordan made it special. He found so much joy being at the cabin with his family and we loved our ‘big family weekends’ when both sisters made it up. He was so full of life when he was on the water. Whether he was pulling the kids on the tube, after they said “hit it jo”, going for a night time cruise or zipping up his wet suit to go surfing in April, he was glowing. There were so many times we had to make him get back on the boat so we could make our way back to the marina. He never wanted to waste good water so if you took too long to get in the water he’d say “paint or get off the ladder”. He loved his music on the boat and he loved it loud. He had a remote he took into the water with him just in case we turned it down.

At the marina some of us were not very good at tying the proper knots to hold the boat, so he’d remind us “if you can’t tie a knot, tie a lot.”

It didn’t matter how tuckered we were from a day on the water, he never let us go to bed without playing yard games.

Cabin trips will never be the same and our card games are never going to end because we always “played until jo wins”.

Trooper and Rixie were his pride and joy. Everything he did revolved around the pups and they were so lucky to have each other. Labrador Lodge was their house, Jordan just paid the mortgage.

He loved the Pittsburgh Penguins and would travel near or far to catch a game. Let’s go Pens!

Jordan was the life of the party and brought so much happiness and humor everywhere he went. He loved all of our family traditions. We will miss him dearly.

See ya at the lake.

We will be celebrating his life on Friday, April 8th from 2-4pm at Chateau at Le Jardin at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road Sandy, Utah

Our heartfelt sympathy to Jordan's family. He was our "go to guy" in technologies to get help with our computers. He was always there with his willing smile and successful help.

He leaves a big "hole" here at Amex. I am glad I got to be acquainted with him. May your great memories with him carry you through the lonesome times.

I am just so sadden to hear about the death of my dear friend. Jordan and I worked together for several years at American Express and he was our team lead and always kept me laughing. He would invite our work group up to his cabin at Bear Lake for a guys weekend. He is the best of the best of people I have ever met in my life and I cried when I heard the news and still cannot stop thinking about him. I will miss you my dear friend. I will see you on the other side. Rest In Peace.

What a great tribute to Jordan. I’ve worked with him for a long time and got to know him a lot better after we worked on a project together in 2018. I consider him one of my good friends.

My heart is broken. He always talked about his family and the good times you had. He told me about the family calendar and how everyone knew when they were supposed to be at the lake.

He is such a good guy. I knew he had his ups downs. I’m so sad he is gone. I will miss our lunches, his “two Junes ago” phrases, our good talks, his good advise on car buying and everything else about him. I will never forget him. He is one of the best and one of a kind.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very difficult time. I worked with Jordan at Amex and he was always the 'go to' technology guy for any type of support. He was always fun to be around and while I may have been technically challenged, Jordan was always patient and supportive even when it was a user error. He always talked about his boat and getting away with the family and the great times he had.
He will be sorely missed by all.
RIP Jordan!!!
John

What a great write up about an AMAZING young man. He truly was one of a kind and would do anything to help any one, which he learned from his father I am sure. I always enjoyed my talks with him and to hear about how the family was doing, as well as what his next adventures would be.
He is one that lived life to the fullest and knew the power and importance of family. My heart breaks, but I have an understanding of Eternal Families, and I am sure he will be watching all of you from above and will still join you at the lake.

I had the pleasure of being Jordan's leader for 6 years at Amex, but the true honor of being his friend. We have accomplished so many great things together. And we've shared many life lessons and laughs. I can still hear his calm voice, see his kind smile, hear his awesome laugh, and feel the warm hugs he would greet me with when I arrived at the office in SLC for a visit. I may have been his leader at work but often times he was leading me. And I admired him for that. The outpouring of condolences this week from around the world is a true testament of this great man. I appreciated his honesty and genuine kindness. Jordan was truly a special person and a wonderful man.

I love you and miss you already my dear friend.

Still at a loss for words .... I'm heart broken and will miss my friend. Like everyone ... I wish I could rewind time and have one last time with Jordan. I loved talking with Jordan and sifting his knowledge about woodworking, DIY projects, boating, smoking meats, and Blackstone griddling. I will definitely miss his salty personality, open perspective to new ideas, his inclusive attitude, ability to make everyone in the room smarter, his jokes, boating snack bag, and eating his world famous smash burgers. I admire his generosity to others and his top class hospitality he offered. So many qualities I admire and hope to continue on in his legacy. To my favorite and greatest surf boat captain, .... can't wait 'til we ride together again.

Cheers to the Captain

My heart is breaking for you guys. When I found out about Jordan I just cried.
Jordan made me laugh whenever I was around him. He was always the life of the party. Always so generous and willing to help out when asked, or needed. I’ve heard so many fun stories from Preston about their friend adventures. Jordan was just a great person. He will be missed so much, by so many. ❤️

I called Debi the day after her birthday to wish her Happy Birthday. She couldn't talk but she text me back and told me of this heart breaking news. I have thought of your family almost constantly through out this week. I can't imagine how your heart is breaking. His obituary is so great, what a wonderfully talented young man. I loved reading all of his little sayings. When we lived by you, Tawny had a yard sale to earn money for an orphanage she was working at. Jordan walked over to our house and gave us a MP3 player (not sure if that is what it is really called) to donate to the cause. I thought that was so kind of him to walk over and donate that, he was just a kid. I haven't forgot about that.
Your family is on our minds and in our hearts, we love you and hope you have a day of wonderful shared memories.

I had the privilege of working with Jordan for 12 years. My heart aches for what had happened and I have been thinking of him constantly. He was so much more than just a coworker but my friend too. I will always remember that he always saw the best in me. And always looked after me and supported me. We were a great team. We went through a lot together and had lots of good laughs too. I will miss him so much.

God speed my friend.

- Eric Kammeyer

Dear Troy and family. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Family, friends and faith can get us through terribly tough times like these. I have positive memories of you and Jordan, helping me with various technology requests and talking about our bad backs. I wish the best for you and your family. Take care Troy

I am heartbroken to hear of Jordan's passing. He was my colleague at American Express and ALWAYS took time to help me. Even if my issue was trivial and easy to fix, he always made sure to make me feel comfortable. He was patient, kind, funny and sincere!

Over the many times of Jordan fixing my computer, we talked about Bear Lake and boating. He would light up when talking about going to his cabin and spending time with family. It was truly his happy place!

To Jordan's family, may your memories with Jordan help you walk through your grief! You will be in my thoughts and prayers!
